What are the side effects of Effexor xr if i want to stop taking it.?!
Question: I would like to come off this meds, its for panic attacks, and i do know i should talk to my Dr. first, but i was wondering if there are side effects to stoping this med.. Thanks.

If you stop abruptly, the side effects will really be awful. First of all, there are "brain shivers"--its hard to explain what they are--its like an intense, brief moment of dizziness/feeling very out of it/feeling like you've just been electrically shocked--and the longer you go without the Effexor, the more frequent these 'episodes' are. The list of withdrawal symptoms is very long, and they include vomiting, stomach problems, dry mouth, twitching, coordination impairment, anxiety, sweating, vertigo, insomnia, sensory disturbances, nausea, fatigue, hypomania, headaches...
If you just stop cold turkey, the symptoms will hit you full force, and they are really horrific. You NEED to taper off slowly.
