It was once said "War is Hell". But remember the statistics more men are killed in Automobile accidents every year then in Iraq. That goes for women too. Basically you are saver in that war zone than you are at home. I am not saying it is a picnic, you will be scared as hell. If you weren't scared you would be a Lie. Remember you are a senior NCO, you lead by example. Be scared all you want, but don't show it, being scared is the same as yawning both are contagious. Put on your hero shirt. Get the men under you to see that by doing there job collectedly that they have a better chance of coming home in one piece.

Peace my brother.

I guess it depends on what duties you'll be performing in Iraq, but it's probably more a fear of the unknown at the moment, if you've never been over there before.

It would be abnormal not to be scared. Good luck.

no, its normal your going war. what do you thinks going to happen your going to be all happy and cant wait? your not going crazy cause if i was going to war id feel the same way, good luck, and kick some iraqi a.ss fo me.

God Bless You and Keep you safe. I would be crapping down both legs. I would be srared out of my mind. May you return before you know it.

real men are emotional. dont worry.

No way! Of course you're scared and upset! Who isn't? You are completely normal and very brave, and we thank you. Don't worry about being normal, you definitely are. Be safe.

what is your mos???? that matters alot as to how safe you are over there...i was there for both wars ...retired 2 years ago now after 26 in....and i can tell you its good and healthy to be scared about going i sure as hell was especially the first time....i was recon so we saw alot of crap you don't want to know even exists..was very lucky made it through the first one unharmed...in this one i took some shrapnel but its turned out to be the classic"million dollar wound"...got me early retirement with full pension and benefits...i still had a few years left to go on my commission....so thank god for that....anyway i and my family will be praying for you and just remember to keep your head down and be alert at all times you should be fine if you do that...god bless and god bless America

You are not losing your mind. You are only human, and any human being would be going through what you are experiencing. Godspeed!

Nothing wrong with that.My problem was getting over the anxiety.
It took me about a week to get over everything once i got there.Once you make peace with everything the you'll be fine.
