Borderline Vrs. Dissociative Identity Disorder?!
Question: I know this girl who has been diagnosed as Borderline, but she keeps telling me about her dissassociation episodes and it sounds more like DID then Borderline? What is the difference, and how can she stop this behavior?

With DID the person would have at least one distinct and separate personality other than their usual one. They would be unaware of any personalities other than their own (although the other personalities could well be aware of each other).
With BPD, although they may seem to have more than one personality, they are aware of the different sides to themselves. There are often periods of dissociation with BPD and there are also other dissociative disorders. This is only my understanding of these things though and I am certainly not an expert of these things.
I believe psychotherapy has proven quite useful in treating dissociation. Medication and various kinds of therapy can help a lot with BPD. I have posted some links which will hopefully be more accurate and more helpful than I have been. Hope you find them useful.
