I hear voices in my head... whats wrong with me?!

Question: If i go to sleep late at night sometimes i hear random voices. Its like i will be trying to close my eyes and go to sleep, and i will hear a shout, or phases... of other voices. sometimes its two people talking at once, a kid, male or female... and its totally random.

ex: "Stop!" "Everything turned green" "Where are you?" "One thousand five hundred and fifty five." "He is sitting in a chair" "being hesitant of the bug" "eating a pickle"

lol some of those i just made up but thats an example of what its like. also, when i open my eyes it stops.

When i was little, i could see my thoughts if i closed my eyes. like i could control it, i would see satan, and then it freaked me out so i changed it to my cat... it was weird.

I dont think i have schitsofrenia or bipolar.. not depression either... it has to be something to do with sleep patterns...

Please tell me what's wrong with me and if this is normal!! :(

I HAVE HAD THIS BEFORE!!!
i never hear of anyone else having this before. i used to get it for months at a time. but dont worry your not crazy and there is nothing wrong with you.
basicly what is going on is when you're trying to go to sleep and calm down, your brain is still at work. its a restless thing. even if you are tierd.
what is going on in your head is random "memorys" if you will of what has happend to you that day. you said that you're 14 right? well you're in school yes? that could be why its numbers and people's random statments.
i was concened about it when i had it too, i talked to my doc about it and told me not worry, but to change my habits a little. whati did to make it stop is simple. dont watch too much tv before you go to sleep or play video games. when you do those things , a part of your brain, is still active after you quit. that may cause involentary movement of your arms and legs as well as your mind continueing to "talk" maybe read a little before bed or listen to some soothing music as you fall asleep. also, if there are any problems or things on your mind as you go about your day, try and get them resolved or in order before you try to shut it all out with sleep.
i hope this helped you out at all. dont worry tho THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU! :)

well maybe you are a physic

so maybe your mind is making you here fake things just to trick you

that happens to me sometimes when i am alone it is just your mind playing games

Sounds like your mind is playing tricks on you.

Otherwise sounds like skitzophrenia

are you sure your not half asleep? You could be a really light sleeper.

well sometimes i hear people calling my name from other rooms in my house when im home alone and i will go and investigate and theres no one there. if i were you i would see a phycologist or a shrink.

I think you should see a doctor

Is this causing you to not sleep? If so, I suggest you see your MD for a check up. Print out what you have written above and take it wit you to the MD.

First, you should be cleared from a mental health professional. The patient is not always the best one to diagnosis their mental illness, so you want to make sure there's nothing at play there.

If everything checks out in that arena, then you should research meduimistic qualities. One who can communicate with entities. The odd, random things that you hear, and the variance of source, (man, woman child), of the voices is what causes me to lean in this direction. Usually schizo people hear the same voice repeatedly, urging them to do bad things, or that something's going to be done to them. Pickles are not usually mentioned.

In any case, good luck with whatever it may be.

You could indeed be a latent telepath. There's really no way to say for sure. If it bothers you too much, start "thinking" yourself a story to get you to sleep -- that should help to block out the voices....

Talk to your mom bout them numbers you may win the lotto lol and you dont wanna hear voices maybe you really should get to sleep early staying up for tooo long could mess with your head. Matter a fact let me get to bed too. Darn internet

my sister is going through a similar issue
read up on psychosis and see if it has other similar symptoms to you

Dear Miranda,

I'm not a psychiatrist but i have "heard" voices and been diagnosed as mentally ill when a young man. I haven't had unwelcome voices in my mind for years.

To me, the voices in my mind were unwelcome and not willed by me. They were unmistakeably "other" and often not of the male sex or were multiple voices. The thing that distinguished them as abnormal to me was that they always surprised me so could not be the normal friendly little thought voice i thought with and still think with. That voice is willed by me and controlled by my will; these were not. And they were while I was wide awake. Be very sure they are not your own willed thought voice idly thinking or a dream state. You do not want a diagnosis of psychosis if you can help it.

To get more info on "hallucinations" type that word into Yahoo! web search. In the links that come up wikipedia has a good summary. You will find that some 40% of the world population report having had an hallucination at some time in their life. Only 2-3 % are diagnosed as psychotic.

Hope this helps, good mental health, peace and Love!

Um.... No offense but uh... I think you need to take a trip to the Insane Asylum.... But that's just me!
