First, a couple of questions. Are you taking any drugs (legal or otherwise) that can effect your concentration? Are you having any mental or emotional problems (such as depression or relationship hassles)? If you can answer no to both questions, then you may have a learning disorder. Anyway, it is clear you are having some kind of problem and I think you should talk to the counselor at your school. The middle school years are always difficult. I'm sorry your parents think you are lazy. It is clear that you care about not doing well in school. Good luck.

it's a possibility - try talking to your family doctor- they would be able to go over all of your symptoms with you-btw it is often harder to diagnose a learning disorder in a female then a male- the symptoms can be less pronounced

muddle school?

same exact thing happened to me, turned out it was ADD and they gave me an amphetamine for it...

You are most likely normal. Just practice doing one thing, and move on to the next thing. You can change you mind if you practice it. Do not ever think of yourself than less than, because you are perfect in every way, just the way you are.
Blessings

It's possible. I recommend talking to a doctor. If your school counselor isn't an imbecile, he/she might offer alternatives as well.

It is possible. Ask your parents if they will at least let you talk to a doctor about what you are experiencing.... BUT on the same hand, I agree with the LBD449 (hope I recalled that right) person. There is nothing bad about you and it may be harder for you but if you keep trying you can make things better (even if you DO have ADD). I'm pretty sure I had it, but I managed. My grades weren't the best and my teachers told my parents that I could make straight "A"s if I would just "apply" myself. IF you do discover you have ADD there is a GREAT sight I found. (below) I love their additude because they concentrate on all the "gifts" everyone has and not the hardships. Good luck to you.

u could or u could be focusing on messing up and not trying enough or studying! Pay attention in class. If u still suspect it and u r not rushing in your work and stuff go to your doctor and tell them what u said here, your parents don't have to go with you since u r old enough to go alone. Then if u do get diagnosed with nothing u just may need a tutor or speacial ed or go to a learning center, no biggie. And if u do get diagnosed with something tell your parents..

A true learning disability would likely have made it's presence known much earlier than this. What you describe is pretty normal teenage behavior, and the reaction to the change in work demands that you see start in middle school. In elementary school, everything is pretty much spoon fed to you, and you don't actually have to do much work at learning. That all changed as you get closer to high school level work. You can handle the problems you describe yourself, you just have to want to do it. Forgetfullness, or just not wanting to remember really? Ever heard of a handy little item called an assignment notebook? Manage time by making yourself a daily schedule or plan, and then stick to it. Careless mistakes will become a lot less common if you just make the time and take the time to do the work. The complaints you have don't really sound like a learning disorder, no. They sound more like a self discipline disorder. We aren't born with a sense of self discipline, it's something we can learn to an extent and have to work on ourselves. I wager you can pay close enough attention to things that interest you, and remember things that are really important to you. You can always talk with the school councelor if you like, but honestly it sounds like a normal problem. Having a learning disability would make a handy excuse, but really even that would just mean you have an extra challenge. It doesn't make it impossible to learn, just more of a challenge. And if you don't want to meet the challenges, you won't- regardless. It's all the vogue now to say you have some sort of learning disorder, or ADD, ADH, bipolar, and on and on and on. Try focusing on what you can do to work to solve the problems and less on trying to label them. Then you might actually make some progress.

Hi there. first off, I have ADHD. so Here is my advice-

A lot of the things you listed are similar to that of a person with ADD. However, ADD is often over-diagnosed, so just because you have some symptoms, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Here are some organization methods that I have to use every school day:

1.) when I come home, I immediately write down on a sticky note all the things I need to do (hw mostly)
I don't turn on the computer or television until I have finished my hw.

2.) In class...take precise and simple notes that will help jog your memory when you are studying at home but wont completely consume you during class.

3.) When you take a test, I know every teacher says this, but you need to go back and check your answers. That will help correct some careless mistakes.

4.) When you study, use visuals and make notes to highlight. Also I use flash cards for vocab and that helps.

5.) and sometimes, depending on what you are learning in class or how you learn, you dont absolutely NEED to take notes. instead you can listen to what your teacher is saying and really try and absorb information that way. If you focus on that you will know when you hit key information, and you will quickly jot that down. This way you get info from your teacher during class and also have some notes of the important things.

if these tools dont help at all...really and seriously tell your parents you want to go to a doctor to get tested for a learning disability.

:)
Good luck!

what condition do you have? it sounds like you could have ADD/ADHD more than a learning disorder
