Sleep...all wrong...help...I'm freaking tired...?!

Question: I need to find a way to have a better sleeping pattern, but my biological clock's all effed up.
I went to sleep last night at like 6 something because I was really tired and I was seriously hoping to get 11 hours of sleep so I wouldn't be tired in school today...not the case.
I don't know how, but apparently (all the time) I wake myself up in the middle of dreaming and I can't ever get back to sleep until 1-2 hours before I wake up. It sucks.
I woke up at 9:55 last night and was just lying there until 1:55 in the morning trying to fall back asleep and I only had 3 more hours until I had to wake up...I'm really tired now! What can I do to make myself sleep longer/better? Because this sucks.

Try taking a power nap (15 to 30 minutes) in the afternoon or early evening. Don't allow it to be any longer than 30 minutes, though.

Then, go to bed at 10 or 11. Make it a do-able schedule, though...and stick with it from here on out. Don't skimp on weekends, either...if you must stay up later on weekends, make sure you sleep in those extra hours!

After awhile (and it won't be easy at first), your body will readjust to the schedule.

I used to work graveyard shift for years, then got a "day" job...I used this method and it worked for me!

eat right, exercise. 11 hours is too much sleep. It can make you feel more tired.

i would say that you need to have a more regular routine. but in the short term, cut off any drinks except water after 7pm. do not eat anything after that time either. then, do something regular each evening a few hours before going to bed. maybe take a nice walk, or do some type of calming workouts. actually sex can be very helpful. you can also try kava kava, and/or meditation. maybe ambient music to relax you? soma fm online is a great station, i go to sleep to it many nights. so these are some tips.

I would recommend talking to your doctor, I had the same problem for years (it started when my daughter was born) and I tried everything. After over 4 years I couldn't deal with being tired all day anymore, but I refused to take anything that would just knock me out like most of the sleep aids on the market. I needed to be able to be alert in case my daughter needed me in the middle of the night. My doctor was finally able to get me to agree to take Rozerem. He let me know it wasn't a medication that I would get hooked on, or need for very long. I was told it works with your body to reset your internal clock. Instead of giving me a prescription he gave me a 30 day supply of sample and let me know that it won't work right away, but I had to keep taking it every night for the 30 days and always try to go to bed and wake up at about the same time. It took 3 days for me to get a good nights sleep (because it doesn't just knock you out). I used all of the samples and never had to return for more, I have been sleeping all night without medication ever since (about 5 months now). At this point I feel I am beginning to sound like a commercial so I will stop, the point is it worked great and I can actually sleep now. Please try natural methods first but if you are still unable to sleep no matter what you try, I am confident in reccomending Roserem considering how well it worked for me.

aviod thinking about life when u want to sleep just pure ur thoughts, dont drink tea or coffe . change ur pillowes , try to make ur bed more comfortable ,,, drink milk or yogurt before u go to bed ,, try to get rid from noise around u ,, turn off the lights ,,, if all those didn't work go to a pharmacy there are many herbal safe sleep inducing supplements ,,, sweet dreams

I'd say a bottle of Melatonin from your local pharmacy will do the trick. It's a natural hormone that triggers sleep. Get the sort that dissolve under your tongue if you can, they are great to keep on the nightstand for when you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep around 1 AM. (my particular problem.)
