What is a good alternative to Paxil?!
Question: Paxil works well for me, but I'm going to wean off due to medical reasons. What is another drug in the same category that will probably work just as well? I'm taking it for panic disorder, panic attacks and anxiety.
**Of course I'm going to go with what the Dr. suggests. I just want to know if anyone else has had success with another drug.

I got really sick about 3 weeks after stopping Paxil. I thought I should just start taking it again because I hated all the puking. However, I have switched to Prozac and it helps me more than Paxil ever did. Plus, Paxil got me fat. Didn't really boost my self-esteem. Effexor made me tired and eat a lot. Remeron knocked me out completely. Trazodone is great for insomnia, but I would never take it for the daytime!! Zoloft made me feel uneasy/shaky all the time. I never took an MAOI, but I know some people who do and they like it. You have to limit your diet on the MAOI,s though.
Wellbutrin worked great UNTIL IT GAVE ME SEIZURES! Don't go there. Good luck, there are lots of choices these days. Hope I helped a little bit.
DON'T FORGET THAT YOU WILL STOP BEING SICK AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OFF OF PAXIL! HANG IN THERE!
TRY EFFEXOR THAT IS WHAT I TAKE
Effexor XR is good. If not, though I haven't been on this one, try Lexapro.
I moved from Paxil to zoloft, it seemed to work about as well for me. But I seem to remember they have similar "side effects may include" lists, so not sure it'll be what you're looking for?
