Take a deep breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, keep your mouth closed, and hold it a few seconds. You will feel your chest expand.
Release it by blowing it slowly out through your mouth.
This is your first, most immediate defense against stress. If you can get in the habit of pausing and taking a nice, deep breath every time you feel stress beginning to take hold, you'll have won half the battle just by preventing it from taking over. The other half is won by addressing the causes of your stress.

Smile and laugh. Laughing releases endorphins, which fight stress, help you relax, and remind you that life is about more than work. Make it a point to smile more, even if it feels strange at first. Be silly!!!

Count your blessings. If you want you can even write all the good things in your life.

Good Luck!!!!

I get panic attacks and when they happen. i say if God wants me to die i;ll just go.... hopes this helps.

See anxiety treatments, at * ezy-build (below) in section 6. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself."

Exercise, extra sleep, a new hobby

Humidifiers are awesome
Drink some tea and not the iced stuff or the shitty sweet stuff.

Lay off the sugar, it screws up your system.

Free an hour a day where you just do whatever you want- not a responsibility or anything but whatever you want.

And if it's anxiety, there's not better way than to resolve it upfront. Don't let it fester.

smoke a spliff (aka marijuana). LOL
But seriously, it does relax people. I don't smoke, but I know people who do, and it helps them a lot.

Music is often times like therapy for your body and soul. Pick something smooth and chilling that will help you relax.

Go to the doctors and ask for anxiety meds

Do something you enjoy doing. Lay down and listen to music while you empty your head. That's what I do but everyone is different. Don't think about how to stop the anxiety and choose something you'd rather do. Hope it helps.

Stress lives in the past & the future, not the moment. To stay in the moment, breathe & focus on calming breaths. I have generalized anxiety & this helps me a lot. Try getting massages on a regular basis- this helps tons. Anything to help relieve stress- working out helps too.
Try to find a on -line something called Emotional Freedom Techniques. My therapist does this w/ me & it is genius.
I hope you feel better soon.

Hi .. Its important to try to face what is causing the stress if possible.. I know some relaxation techniques that do work for me anyway. lay down flat on your bed in a silent room , breathe slowly concentrate on each breath dont force this just listen and pay attention to your own breathing, this takes disipline but it does work.. going back to facing the root of the problem are you in a position to confront the stress is this a person causing the problem? a thing? try to say out loud to someone what is causing you stress..

It's good to talk to someone trained to help. Find the cause, and make a plan to handle it. Many therapies work - guided imagery, breathing exercises, qi qong, etc. Don't sit alone watching this monster grow. Get out, be with friends, do volunteer work, practice music or art. Take a walk with a buddy who can hold your hand if you get panicky. Meditation is good, medication an option. It has to be normal - millions have felt this way - just consider it temporary. You'll make it.

Since you list no specific symptoms...like is your stress level keeping you from going /doing your usual stuff.( Work, school...) If your feelings have been under 2weeks, then getting plenty of sleep, eating right, getting exercise, writing down what is worrying you/what you can do to help or fix these issues.

However, if you've been feeling stressed for over two weeks/it's interfering with you getting things done, or your heart races, or you have severe headaches, or you avoid places where you use to go etc.. Go see your Dr..

Sit down comfortably and imagine a small child in your arms.

When (in your mind) you look at it's face, it is you when you were very young.

As you gently hold it, give it the LOVE that you would if it was a son that you had and adored and loved.

Look at it in your mind and gently and lovingly tell it, "It is a safe place in this Universe we live in together. I will always protect you from any harm and I LOVE you from the very bottom of my heart."

Tell it, "You need have no fear of any thing while I am with you, the Universe is a beautiful and happy place to be and together we will now enjoy the beauty and joy of it together."

Then just sit and hold it, and in your mind feel the LOVE that you have for this child. Do this each day until you FEEL the love that you have for it, and then continue each day as long as you feel you need.

I have felt the LOVE you have for this child, just by writing this.

LOVE, Peace and Light.
peacefromken.

A quick fix is to take 3 really deep breaths and feel it all the way down to your feet, and all the way up past the top of your head while thinking during the inhale "I receive" exhale "I surrender". It's an abbreviated Yoga.
