I think I might have totally messed things up.?!
Question: The love of my life has suffered with cancer..however according to dr's it is gone. He has hidden himeself away trying to deal with something..Now he is hospitalized for mental breakdown. Now he is a distance from me and I know only what he or his son tell me. If I ask for more information, he believes I am being untrusting. I thought I was doing the right thing by sending encouraging messages and such. Now I do not know. He was angry at me for trying to contact the hospital where he is at the moment. When he accused me of not trusting, I told him I would wait to hear from him. I am just afraid I have ruined everything...All I wanted to do was be his support system.

At some point while he is in the hospital, you could talk to the social worker that he is assigned to. You could suggest scheduling an appointment where you could meet with him and the social worker. This could help you understand what his thoughts and feelings are. He would have to decide if this is something he wanted to do. Good Luck
The man needs his privacy. He obviously does not want to talk right now. Perhaps he was the love of your life, but I feel that he did not return the feelings. If he calls you, fine, bur do not harass the guy, that makes things worse.
He's been using you and playing you for a sucker. Now he's found someone more interesting to pull his bullsh(i)t on, so he wants you to get lost.
