How does adderall abuse affect someone who is depressed?!

Question: Will it cause them to be more withdrawn? Can they appear fine to some peolpe and be distant to others, like say those they used to be close to? What other symptoms can you tell me about? Thanks a lot!

Proper adderall use will only benefit those who have a legitimate need for it. People who are withdrawn because of ADD or ADHD or perhaps even something like bipolar (like myself) who respond to Adderall should become less withdrawn over time, assuming that any other medical conditions are being treated as well.

But you said abuse. Taking more than is medically necessary will cause the abuser to show signs of stimulant abuse - one of which could possibly be withdrawal. Recreational drug usage often puts a barrier or wall between a user and a non-user. I speak from personal experience, from both sides of the wall.

You should google "stimulant abuse" to learn more about the symptoms, but nervousness, jitteriness, racing thoughts, inability to focus or concentrate, mood swings, risky behavior, shaky hands or limbs, and personality changes are all possible symptoms of stimulant abuse. Adderall is made from a blend of different amphetamines, so googling "amphetamine abuse" may also give you some insight.

Symptoms differ from person to person, but many drugs do leave a mark. I know pretty consistently when someone has been a meth user, for instance, mostly just through body posture and mannerisms. It's one of those things - you learn over time what to look for.

Saul

If a person without ADD/ADHD were to take adderall (depressed or not), the typical effect is anxiety, hyperactivity, pressured speech, difficulty sleeping etc (quite the opposite of being more withdrawn or distant).

it acts as a major stimulant for people with out add or adhd at first. after taking it for a long while it will make you leavel off or continue to be withdrawn. i used it to stay awake and study when i was in school. its not good to use it exessively tho.

as far as my experience it starts to become a bennifit. but i think personaly i may have a bit of an attention problem!

It depends really. I know a guy who does take adderall XR for ADHD and he is very relaxed and calm. His personality has changed alot.

Heres the honest truth: no matter what any doctor says, adderall works as a stimulant on everyone. "ADHD" or not. I'm diagnosed ADHD and have been for quite some time, and I can't pretend that the effects are different for me than they are for other people. I also have a great deal of diagnosed friends who will tell you the same. Adderall will make anyone get better grades or focus more.
I sometimes get very moody and boarderline anti-social when I take adderall. I've heard this response from a great deal of other people taking adderall as well. I think that adderall can heighten feelings of saddness and despair, so it probably wouldn't be good for anyone who already has those feelings.
Other Symptoms:
irritability
elevated pulse
decrease in hunger
need to get things done
in extreme cases adderall can cause tics, hallucinations, and heart problems.
