I am 16, and I am on Celexa as well as two mood stabilizers (for bipolar). The Celexa was obviously prescribed for depression, and I was put on it during a "crisis period" where they upped all of my meds and stuck me on an antidepressant ASAP. I didn't get many side effects, although I felt a little nauseated, if I remember correctly. So far, I believe it has done its job. I did not become suicidal upon beginning the medication (moreso than I already was). It is hard for me to evaluate the true effectiveness of Celexa, seeing as I am also on Lamictal and Lithium in rather large doses. But, the depression is pretty much gone, as are the superhighs (Lithium and Lamictal fixed that.)
In short, I think it is a good med with few side effects, and it definitely seems to have worked.
I took it 5 years ago. I went into convulsions. that's just me though. Don't take Serzone either unless you want to puke all the time.
I have been on Celexa for a couple of years now. It works for me. I started probably when I just turned 16 and I am 18 now. I use it for my OCD. I don't think there is any bad side affects really. You may get night sweats and maybe diarrhea but that's all. Overall, it is a good medicine.
