I have a VERY strange problem? Id like some insight :(?!


Question: I have a problem with trusting/fearing strangers. Where I work, I deal with customers and sometimes they get angry for whatever reason, and when this happens, I always feel like theyre going to hurt me. I avoid arguments with a customer for fear that theyre going to pull a gun on me and kill me. I have reoccuring dreams about being shot, stabbed and dying. If Im walking alone and a person is walking towards me from the opposite direction with their hands in their pockets or something, I imagine theyre holding a knife in their hand inside their pocket and theyre going to rob me and stab me. I was on the train with some friends the other night and I saw a man, sitting alone near us reaching into his pocket and digging around for something and I thought it was going to be a gun and he was gonna open fire ..HE PULLED OUT A CELLPHONE! ITS COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL, I KNOW! Ive never been hurt, abused or even PICKED on ever in my life! This is so embarassing. What's wrong with me?Please, anyone?

it sounds like you are overstimulated. the best solution would be to change your environment (to calming country). take lots of vitamins, sleep and eats lots of good food. go work on an organic farm for awhile. (yeah, like that's possible).

But seriously, it does sound like you've tipped the edge a bit of logical thinking. but that's okay, there are a few, simple things you can do to change this.

first of all, stop watching any news on tv. stop reading all newspapers. cut the sugar you eat to 1/2. each lots of proteins. take walks with a friend and point out things in your environment that are NOT threatening (keep doing this until you feel better). sleep 8-9 hours a night and eat breakfasts (protein). after a few days you should start feeling better.

(oh, and try to keep clear of therapists and prescribed drugs. if you are already taking prescribed drugs, do to www.cchr.org and on the left hand side there's a few links to check out.)

sounds like you may be under a lot of stress lateley, maybe not getting enough sleep. I would recommend talking to someone more professsional about this. They can give great insight into things you can do to not feel this way anymore

Maye you should get out of the big city for a while, or at least get a job in a safer part of town. You sound a little paranoid.

if you've had a bad experience or a repressed memory of something bad happening to you to do with a stranger it is completely understandable. I myself have a problem with trusting people cause i have had bad experiences when i have trusted people.

sounds like panic attacks..2 solutions...
1. go see a doc for anxiety meds
2. always have someone with you..that way you have a 50/50 chance of not being stabbed or shot ;)

With all the violence and senseless shootings, some of your fear sounds prudent. However, it has gotten out of hand. Make an appointment with a therapist and discuss this with them. A good therapist will help you discover where all this fear is coming from and help you to relieve at least some of it. Sometimes it takes more than one therapist to find one that is right for you. If you have a problem with the first one, try another.

well there has been allot of random violence in today's world. after 911 allot of people had to turn off the TV to reduce the feeling of fear that so penetrated our society. so if your too exposed to any media, maybe this is penetrating your subconscious. try to concentrate on things that you really enjoy, laugh more. personally i find if i get just a little exercise i sleep with better dreams. at the same time listen to your gut. i had a friend that had moved to a large city, and she ignored her gut, cause she didnt want to offend the guy. well instead of taking an extra spin around the block before getting out of her car she got mugged.
