I think I have Social Anxiety Disorder???!


Question: I dont know what to do. I always think people are judging me and I am SO shy. I'm afraid to go to a doctor(im shy) but SAD is ruining my life. I have a new school schedule and I hate it. I have to make like 2 speaches. Whenever we have a school speach I get thought of suicide. What should I do??????

I had that problem with speeches in a classroom, I would talk to the professor and let them know of your fear, this can be made private, say the speech be to her after classes have let out. There should be no reason why someone with a fear like this should have to do this. I doubt a professor would mind altering for your sanity. They are pretty reasonable when you tell the truth and explain your fears.

Omg i had this same thing like for all my life since i started going to school,now im 17 yrs old and im still dealing with some thing just sometimes but you need help honestly before its too late and fisrt you should try to talk to somebody a friend, or a family member if you dont wanna go straight to a doctor i used to be all day at home and not wanting to go to school i even droped out but i didnt even finish high school and they kicked me out when i was in 11 grade cuz i did many things just no to be aroud people,well now im on medicine it doesnt mean that youre gonna be doing the same but you should talk to somebody and maybe go to therapy its all in your mind, i used to freak out cuz i tought people talked about me and they talked crap but once i realized all was in my mind they actually tought i was cool and all that.

IDK, im about to post a question just LIKE THIS because i have a simular situation.
I have to go to a new school in a city i used to live in, and i have bad memories of going to elementary school in this city because i would always get teased and bullied meanwhile people would always wonder why i never did anything about it, it was because i COULDNT! i just freeze up!
Now i have to go back to school in that city and im afraid that im not gonna have a good life until i graduate thanks to terrible memories. Today i went to that city and i felt intimidated that i had to pass by all those people in an urban enviroment, but at the same time i felt liked i belonged because i was back home and for the first time i also realized that they are just like me.

I took public speaking and teh best thing to is to think positive of yourself and say u will do a good job! When u give the speech look at your audience at least three times!!!!!!! If u don't do this u will feel like ' oh my gosh are they looking at me!' i ALSO MUST TELL U THAT WHEN U R SPEAKING tell them that u r soo nervous right now, that will help calm down your class mates for when its their turn and it will calm you down. Yes they will be nervous to. Seriously! Also u appear more confident than how u r feeling inside and realize that every one wants u to do good bcuz they also will have to give a speech as well. If u ever think it u will feel u have done a horrible job. Also practice makes improvement!!!! I had this one boy in my classes , i am in college, and he would be so nervous he wouldn't say all of his words correctly....like the endings would just dissapear! But as he went on it would improve. So plz give it a shot but still get professional help!!
Since u r having these thoughts and feelings U MUST GO TO your doctor or u can call apsychiatrist from the phone book and make an appt. Plz do it, its not that big a deal...u will get the help u need and they will tell u if u have it and what u can do and take ppls if u think its best for you and safe but u don't have to. Plz just go, it will help u soooo much and u won't have to be suffering like this any more. PLZ JUST GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :) and don't commit suicide or hurtful acts, plz!!!
