Hi mcmaddys...have you ever felt depressed? depressed enough to tell someone that there is nothing worth getting up for? or going to bed for?Having the symptoms that you describe is something that a majority of people will have in their lifetimes. Many are diagnosed as being depressed. There are lots of different symptoms of depression including insomnia ( can't sleep) to fatigue (can't wake up). Many times people that are depressed have feelings of low self worth or hopelessness or helplessness. For some people appetite is affected; some people eat less and some people eat more, lots more. When someone is in the throes of depression it's easy to ignore friends attempts at reaching out. But the good news is that you have realized something is not right with you. The better news is that depression often responds well to treatment, especially the medications available today. Now that you know that something that is not right, take the next step and talk with someone. A good place to start would be with your regular medical Dr. If you don't have one, a OB-GYN can point you in the direction of someone experienced with treating depression. Or you may be able to open the yellow pages and look under counseling. Many communities have counseling services available on an ability to pay basis. Don't worry about what anyone thinks about you getting help for a real medical condition. Do worry about what people will say if you decide that you don't need help. Those will be the same people to tell others that you are just not acting "right".

set your alarm to be some loud music that you like then the first time it goes off press snooze but turn the light on and force yourself out of bed by the second or third time.

Sounds like depression. See a Doctor!

DEPRESSION.. Please look up this condition. Google it if you have to. You are describing some of the classic symptoms. Life is too short to suffer from depression when their are ways to make yourself feel better. Be open. Talk therapy and medications do help. Please seek some help tomorrow.

Sounds like depression. Set yourself a daily plan and force yourself to stick with it. Include showering, a walk, fresh fruit and vege's daily and make sure you have background noise on like a tv or radio.

And probably not a bad idea to talk with a doctor. He may give you meds to help increase the seratonin levels in your brain that directly affect our moods and as you start to increase you energy you could look at making some short term goals to work towards. Eg Joining a gym or finding a hobby. A night school class or local church etc... Something that won't stress you but will help to socialise you so you don't feel so alone.

Before deciding you have clinical depression,I suggest developing some sleeping habits that fit with your schedule. Make yourself get up at the time you need to each day by setting two alarms; one far away from the bed so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Likely if you get up earlier, you will be able to go to sleep before 4am. It may take a few nights to do this. You can try 3mg of Melatonin which is available in the health section of most stores. Take one 3mg pill about half an hour before bedtime.
After you have been able to establish regular sleep habits that give your body the rest it needs you should feel better. If you can't sleep after 4 or 5 nights, visit your doctor. You may need some medication to help you get into a regular pattern and/or be evaluated for why you can't sleep. It could be depression but seems best to first try to work on getting some sleep.

for sure depression!

You may have , Adrenal fatigue, I just found out that I have it... do some research, online, or at barnes and nobles i just found a book with the title "Adrenal fatigue" it's a very interesting problem that a lot of people have and never get diagnosed because it's not widely recognized by doctors.... but check it out, insomnia and being tired are all a part of it....
