Paxil does cause withdrawals. Just try to remember that the withdrawals eventually go away.

If you have anxiety why are you being took off,I was on the paxil for 14 months and it was bad but i just stopped if you do it right it will work out for you!!Just do it right feel anything weired then tell your Doctor!!!

As long as it's done slowly there should not be a problem. If you notice anything different be sure to contact your Dr. I had no problems at all.

my sister has been on paxil for 7 years because she can't get off of it. everytime she tries she gets weird zapping sensations in her head, and she feels sick.she's not technically addicted to it, just dependant because she feels if she stops all together, she'll suffer undesirable affects. sorry it's not a happy story, but i'm her twin sister and i was on it, and quit cold turkey no problem.

All anti-depressant meds should be tapered off slowly and under the supervision of your doctor. Typically, they will start to drop your dosage and then hold for a week, then drop and hold for a week, then every other day, then every 2 days, then every 3rd day and then stop.

Any signs of anxiety and depression during your weaning period is a symptom of the weaning and not necessarily that your depression or anxiety are coming back.

You will be fine if you do it slowly, it may take 2 months to fully wean, and that is fine.

Without being an expert on this, I'd suggest that it is too big a jump, and I know I would make it 15mg, in 4 weeks, then 10mg, in another 4 weeks. WITHDRAWING FROM PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATIONS

Benzodiazepines are viewed as nearly impossible to get off. No longer with The Road Back Program. Klonopin, Xanax and the sleep medication Ambien have been the most difficult in the past for withdrawal. No longer.

Antidepressant "brain zaps" cause more people to go back on the drug or increase their dosage again. This does not have to be the case if The Road Back Program is followed. Many people have gained excessive amount of weight while taking Celexa, Cymbalta, Effexor, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft and other antidepressants. You may very well find weight begins to come off during the period we call the Pre-Taper.

Anti-psychotics, while being in a class of their own, can be handled effectively.

If you are not sure if you can get off your medication due to side effects, just follow the pre-taper procedure and see if you do not feel like a new person. Then decide. Click here

Anxiety, insomnia and or fatigue are the three major side effects most people have and these three side effects are what is causing most of the other side effects you have.

Take one moment here and imagine how you would feel at this moment in time if you did not have anxiety or fatigue and you were able to have a full night of sleep. How would you feel? And this is just the beginning of what can be for you once again.

Dr. Donald E. McAlpine, Psychiatry and Psychology, Mayo Clinic.: "It's important to taper off slowly, extending the taper over several weeks under your physician's direction. When you stop too quickly, you may experience so-called discontinuation symptoms, which can masquerade as relapse."

Withdrawal off psychiatric medication, as long as it is done with a structured program, does not have to be difficult. Any program that does not address all aspects will have undesirable results.

Lexapro side effects.... More in sections 1, and 2, at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris See anxiety treatments, at * ezy-build (below) in section 6. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself."

I have but it was a couple of years ago. Nothing bad happens, and you will be perfectly fine. Don't always believe what you hear. Good luck!
