Can anyone relate?!

Question: Sometimes I get this feeling of sudden panic in which I feel like I don't know who I am, and nothing seems real. It only lasts a few seconds, I'm 16, maybe it's a coming of age thing, some sort of teen identity crisis? I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced it or if it will eventually go away on its own?

I'm two years older than you and I've had the same thoughts since I was 16... What helps me is if I ask adults they all say they had the same thoughts growing up. It's part of becoming who you are and sometimes things like graduating from high school or getting your first job can trigger feelings because you feel like you might not have enough control. When you feel like nothing's real it comes from the underlying fear of losing control of your life and mind but it will pass! When those thoughts happen stop and take a second to reassure yourself that you're fine and it's going to go away on its own.

p.s- not that it is a problem now, but if you find that things get worse and you cant handle it in the future you can get medicine for these types of panic episodes

It will go away.
Fear is common, in all ages.
We all tend to go through an identity crisis, when it seems like we have no control in our lives, over things happening around us.
It's perfectly normal, but I can only tell you if it doesn't go away, and the fear takes over, counseling is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Good luck and God bless!!!!

It will go away

It should go away on it's own. It sounds like a panic attack. If it continues to persist or worsen you should seek some professional help.. Good luck

I agree with Chrintina.....it will go away and it's probably a panic or anxiety attack.

Usually there is a trigger to them.....something sets them off.

I know someone who has panic attacks and after observing them for a while, she noticed she only had them when she saw red peppers. I know that sounds very silly but it's true.

Something in your mind is wrong.....when you see the "trigger" it tells your mind to prepare for the worst, and so you feel the way you do.

You can see a doctor and they CAN help you.

And try to figure out what your trigger could be!
