yes it can develop over time!!! stop using drugs!!
oh, and one more thing. depression is usually the cause of addictions. so, it could already have been there and with out proper treatment turned into something more severe.
its not caused by drug use..but it can be triggered by drug use..
Bipolar disorder is something you're born with.

The predisposition is genetic. The trigger that opens Pandora's Box can be various stressful events.
Before diagnosis some Bipolars unknowingly try to self medicate with drugs. All they know is life is a little easier while using alcohol or street drugs.
Drugs and alcohol have been the poor man's method of dealing with the disorder in my family. Some of us are just now being diagnosed and started on the legal drugs. This disorder has caused massive destruction and torment in my family.
