Does music help you go to sleep or keep you awake,?!

Question: definitely keeps me awake....i listen to it on the way to work and also while im in the office...i even play it in my head when im in a boring long meeting. but it depends on the genre of the music...i love rock..its not much of a 'help you to sleep' kinda music but when i need to relax and chill, nice slow beats (rnb or jazzy like) helps sooths me down.

depends on what I am listing too

I helps me to sleep.

It keeps me awake - I end up listening to hear what the next song will be. White noise works wonders though.

i tried that last night thinking it would help me because i was really stressed out because of mid-terms, but it actually made me go to sleep an hour later.. it didn't help me at all but it's different for everyone, if you're used to noise & music going asleep then it will help, but otherwise it just keeps you awake and listening.

It depends. Mozart and Bach are soothing, good for bedtime listening. Beethovan's good for energizing your mind, though I find it disturbing sometimes (too aggressive), so those ones keep me awake.

Other than classical, music with no lyrics are usually more helpful in putting people to sleep than those with voices in them.

In my case, it usually depends on my mood. When I was younger, the radio, on low, was comforting to me as I was falling asleep and as I slept. Sometimes, when I am at home alone, I still find the noise comforting. Other times, I am so exhausted, or I might have a headache, and I will want it to be completely silent.

It helps me sleep. I can't sleep when it's all quite. My kids are the same, they need noise to fall asleep.
