I have chronic very very severe PTSD. I am on high dose antipsychotic medications. Olanzapine has stopped me hallucinating and having flashbacks - what are your symptoms of PTSD? I.e. how does PTSD affect you?

Are you receiving psychiatric treatment with medications or counseling for the condition?

For some people with PTSD, a structured counseling session, weekly, does help. To gain a trust with that individual is important, as well. I have a friend who suffers with PTSD, and she finally found a great counselor. That's important, when dealing with the repercussions of nightmares, etc. etc.

Good luck, and God bless you.

Please get some help. Im the walking result of no help and you dont want to turn into this....just go see help, you need it. PTSD is a horrible horrible problem.

PTSD is not easy to manage. It depends on severity and duration of trauma. Also ones coping mechanism to face the stressful situation. It may require long term counseling , Medicines and huge self determination to get desensitized and relax. Also depends on whether the trauma was caused by act of god ( Like death of close relative ) or by another human being. In second case you have to remember one thing - No one can take your pride away , unless you decide to give it.

in my opinion, you adress the issues driving the problem. okay, if you are depressed for example, you find out why and sort through it. when you have resolved those things and finally have a little inner peace the symptoms become managable.

the acid test i use is am i happy? i found when i could finally answer that yes, living was easy. you just have to make changes that allow you to answer that question yes.
