Can anxiety, stress, and depression cause this?!

Question: I have been under a lot of stress this past year. Started with my apt. buring down, then had a son who needed surgey. After that had got bad stomach problems. Lost weight and had daily nausea. After every test doc said it was all stress. Then I started feeling a little better and the had some family issues. Now I some stoamch problems, but not as bad, but also head problems. It seems hard to concentrate at times, fell off balance(seems to be more to the left) nevr have fallin just seem kinda clumsy. The other night i noticed one of my pupils was larger than the other, but now they are normal. Sometimes have pressure under my right eye. Also have lots of panic attacks. Everyone says stress. Could it all be stress? Iam only 20. I always fear the worst. Iam sick of going to the docs and do wanna go back for the same answers just what to get better and move on.

Hi!

You have a lot of the same symptoms I had during the first year that I nursed my mother through cancer, and it was indeed stress, but here's a bit extra... Stress can kill, so make it a priority to seek healthy and productive was to channel off the upset. Stress undermines your body's auto-immune system, and stomach ulcers, deep inner ear infections, chronic upper respiratory problems, sleep deprivation, heart and circulatory problems, are all common ailments... The symptoms of which you've pretty thoroughly described above. You are of no help to anyone if you let the problems eat at you, the idea is to accept that a disaster has happened, and immediately focus on creating a plan to get out of the mess and keep it from reoccurring. The best way to start this is to begin collecting resources, and, networking with others around you. The resources can be as simple as bookmarking informative websites, joining local social clubs that are centered around your hobbies and interests, go out and consistantly do something fun, simple, and inexpensive, and meet as many people as you can, with the idea of talking about anything *but* problems. When you are around a large number of people on a daily basis, your problems tend to shrink in scope as your focus is drawn outward, the symptoms fade, and your problems become a lot more easy to properly perceive and manage. You don't even have to talk about what's bothering you, and I suggest that you don't. People are far more helpful in real and practical ways when they have no clue that they are helping. It's the company, not the counsel, that you need... I am a chronic introvert, so I know what I advise is no small task, and it will take an enormous amount of patience and discipline to pull off, but I promise you, the rewards are beyond what money, love, anger, or angst, could ever win for you. Please get better soon!

yes, stress CAN kill you. Trust me, seen it happen.

Yes stress can cause all those problems.

I'm a 21yr old girl...i get stomach cramps, migraine headaches and I also think the worst about everything.

At one point I was convinced I had a brain tumor, or something wrong with my head becuase the headaches were so bad.

And...oddly enough my pupils are not the same size either.

I've been checked out and tested so many times....always finding no problem. I've even seen a neurologist and had my head checked out !

To conclude I would just call us 'sensitive' that's all.

Oh, yeah! I have suffered through major depression (including 2 suicide attempts) and ulcers. I have also lost 50 lbs. from depression. I also have Attention-Deficit Disorder and have had balance problems my whole life (mainly due to hydrocephalus).

These issues have resulted in numerous other physical problems.

If you're so inclined, I'd suggest seeing a medical professional (although I think that most of them are egomaniacs). You might find one who isn't.

Panic attacks and Stress is not good for you at all , take control before it kills you , you going to have to make yourself not worry so much.

Probably so. I have severe anxiety problems, Im always worried about something. I went through the loss of a brother in law in September, and its gotten really bad. I'm always convinced that I have something wrong with me. I'm currently not on medication, just trying to control my anxiety on my own. Medications just make me worse, you just have to find a way to take your mind off of things! I like reading, it puts me in another world and I forget about all of my problems! Good luck.

You are under enormous stress! Losing weight and having panic attacks? and a doctor has the gall to tell you its just stress. Constant or prolonged stress is a serious condition. You just haven't found the right doctor. Is there somewhere you can go to for a referral? Please don't give up. Try to get some help.

Well, it's understandable that you are stressed out with all of the traumatic things that have happened over this past year.

Here's whats going on...

Constant stress can lead to several problems, but here are a few "mental health" issues that you may consider (all of these problems usually come from negative thinking and worry)..

-You may have generalized anxiety disorder (constant worry, fatigue, muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, excessive anxiety occurring more days than not).

-An adjustment disorder with anxiety (symptoms begin after a major stressor in your life usually occurring within 3 months of the stressor, the stress is causing problems at work or in social situations, symptoms of worry-nervousness-jitteriness)

The good news is these mental health issues are treatable! And a lot of times, mental issues cause physical problems (like falling off balance, stomach problems, dilated pupils, eye twitches-pain and so on)..

You will get through this...
