Is there anyone who has something positive to say about their use of Effexor XR?!
Question: I just got a prescription for the lowest dose of Effexor XR. I would like to know if anyone else has used a dosage this low, how soon they felt a change and what changes they actually felt. I am being treated for anxiety and depression.

I'm on 150mg, I'm not sure what the lowest dose is though. I'm on it for Cyclothymia/Borderline Personality Disorder, and it treats my depression symptoms. It works very well and I don't really have any side effects. I've been on it for nearly 18 months and I do feel shaky if I miss a dose but it's not too serious.
I think it works well for my anxiety but I've been out of work for 6 months now and I might not feel the anxiety because of not having work stress. Before I was taking Effexor I did have quite bad anxiety, and that has subsided quite a lot.
In conclusion, I would say that Effexor has a positive effect without side effects, so I wouldn't be scared to take it.
Effexor works well. They always start you at 50mg and then bump it to 75mg. As with any anti-depressant it takes a few weeks to kick in. You don't feel the change exactly you find you are less depressed and anxious people around you will see it. I went off it recently due to weight gain but that doesn't happen to everyone. Give it a chance.
