I obsess too much!?!

Question: I have this problem, where I get all obsessed and panicked over nothing like for example losing a pen. I start feeling breathless and worried and I can't stop thinking about it. Do I need therapy??

It sounds like you are suffering severe anxiety through your obsessive way of thinking, which is bringing on mild panic attacks. Therapies are really successful in treating these types of problems, in particular cognitive behavioural therapy, which teaches you ways of coping through breathing and changing your the way you are thinking.

A word of advice though .... even if they suggest putting you on medication in conjunction with therapy, ask for at least several weeks of therapy (in unlikely event it does not work) before medication be taken. A lot of psychiatric therapists are keen to hand out the pills, but studies have shown that therapy can be very effective on it's own!

Yes. You really need therapy. thats an extreme case of OCD!

Sounds like you need to just learn to chill -- you're stressing over stuff that is stupid. What are you going to do in a serious situation? I'm serious here -- you need to learn some control.

You may want to see your Dr. or a shrink about this. You could have high anxiety or something. They have meds for that. If you don't want meds, I'm sure the shrink can help.

Yes, probably.

same way...wish i could help

sounds like panic attacks. i have social anxiety disorder which causes me to feel the same way in certain social situations. there are a few Rx that they can prescribe for this. i prefer xanax because i only have to take the drug when the situation arises. but just talk to your family dr and see what he suggests

i feel this way everytime i see something scary on tv!
i just get freaked out and think that something like that will happen to me! i guess this is anxiety kicking in! it's alright you'll be ok!

Hey I used to be like that when I was little. Maybe 7 or so. But now I don't make a huge deal out of losing a pen or something like that. But if I lost something expensive, then I WOULD freak out!!!!!
Maybe you need to talk to your mom.
