I'm not sure if the Health Department offers that test but I do know that some Psychiatrists will give you a very good discount depending on your income (or lack of). Its called a "sliding scale". Since you will need an actual medical doctor to write the prescription, I wouldn't waste the money by going to a psychologist for the testing and then have to see a medical doctor to get the prescription. Go directly to a Psychiatrist and all you will most likely have to do is provide them with your history of ADD symptoms and tell them what meds helped you in the past and the Psychiatrist won't even need to do a formal test prior to giving you a prescription. Thats the way it went for me. I explained to my Psychiatrist that I had been diagnosed in the past with ADD and treated with Adderall and he just reviewed my symptoms and wrote the prescription for me. The Adderall XR is pretty expensive but the regular Adderall (not the time released) is pretty cheap for the generic. I have heard that you can purchase it online so you may want to check into that also. Good luck.

You could check by all means. Also are you able to get assistance from your state for insurance? Seeing a Psychologist to be tested can be costly, I understand that. I wish you luck. Plus if you need to be back on medication that in itself is expensive. Check with your city and see if free clinics are able to help you out or direct you where you could go to be tested.
