Is there a mental illness that causes excessive anger?!
Question: I know someone who is always very angry. She won't take medication for it. She makes everyone around her miserable.

normally its acute personality disorders that are normally responsible, very difficult to treat to, the patient has to be extremely dedicated
Possibly manic depressive or bi-polar syndrome...both need medication to balance out their system.

Does she have hallucinations? Convulsions?
Changes in personality (recent).?
Example: some people with tumors in frontal lobes of brain can develop rage, almost impossible to control.
She needs some good counseling and maybe try walking 30 Min's a day that would help a lot!
I have big anger issues which people claim is because I cant control them but that isnt the case...
For me it is schizophrenia... I get over stimulated easily between voices and delusions and pets being loud and other loud noises or things that overwhelm me..
Fear is the feeling I feel most but second to that is anger.. Angry all the tim and it gets so exhausting trying to control my surroundings so that I am not being so overwhelmed by overstimulation...
Too much to process and it goes on every second I am awake and half that I am not.. just too much to handle..
That is what contributes to constant anger for me dunno if its on target for the person you know though.
There could me many factors that could cause excessive anger. I suffer from a lot of stress and this comes out in anger and a short temper. It could be hormonal especially in a woman. I think if she is not willing to help herself there is not much you can do except maybe distance her, i think it will come to a point when she will realise that she can't carry on in this way unless she does something about her anger. My doctor gave me evening primrose oil and vitamin B6. I got to the stage where my anger was causing a problem also.

I have heard Dr. Phil talk about the Anger illness, but could it be that this woman has schizophrenia? She is right no one can make her take medications. Sorry, maybe if she gets arrested she'll have to face facts.
