I'm about to have a nervous breakdown over something dumb?!

Question: I had a great day. I had done something I had always wanted to accomplish.

One week later, I did something very stupid.

Now, I keep thinking that the memory of the good day will be ruined forever.

I think I'm about to literally have a nervous breakdown over this.

What can I do about this - not therapy, meds, etc. I think I'm going insane.

you're going from dumb to stupid, the severty of the problem is escalateting. obviously there's nothing you can do about what's already been done, a nervous break down surely isn't going to solve the problem either. listen to yourself, you haven't even had the break down yet and you're already going insane. what you need to do is maybe talk to somebody and if not maybe just let it process then let it go. we all ruin good moments by doing stupid things at one time or another in our lives, even God only knows i sure have. you're only human and you will make mistakes. i've felt the same way you have, i never did have the break down or went insane.

What exactly did you do that you think is bad enough to ruin your life over it?

If you can't change it, accept it and learn from the mistake and let it go! If you can fix it somehow get off here and do it.

I actually thought Mr. T's answer was original.

did you say NO DEAL and end up with a dollar-NO--you didn't,
you just need a good nap.

I PIT TY THE FOOL WHO GAVE ME A THUMBS DOWN!

We all do stupid things over and over again and that doesn't mean we're crazy. Just put that in the past and try to go back and re-accomplish what you tried to do in the first place. Just be careful and know that if you mess up again, dust yourself off and try again.

I think you just need to talk to someone. Just "letting it go" is unfortunately not enough. If it was something criminal, (hopefully not) then you may have to answer for that but a good psychologist will be able to help you come to terms with whatever you have done. I wish I could be more helpful but your question was rather vague. Sorry.
