I think I'm suffering from depression...?!

Question: I don't want to take any medications, what advise do you have for me to help me get self motivated, so that I can become myself again

You are still optimistic so that is a good sign!
I'd also recommend trying to eat well and excercising. It's a tough place to pull yourself from so if it gets bad enough for your doctor to suggest trying meds, please do consider. I fought the notion of meds (and seeing a doctor for that matter) for a long time; I'm glad I finally tried it and its made a huge difference for me. But I do understand wanting to try without. Keep yourself busy and around positive people!!

Go see your doctor they probably will suggest medication though.

walk briskly (or other exercises) 30 minutes daily. eat as healthy as you can.

sometime medicine is the best thing for you doing it yourself will lead you into some bad times trust me on that one

Get your mind working.....
get lot's of puzzle books...
Any and all kinds....
An idle mind eventually becomes a diseased mind.

I'm depressed from answering all of the depression questions. Get over it, or die.

Frankly, I tried to get out of a similar thing for a while and decided to go see a psychological counselor. Psychologists can't prescribe medication (I think), only psychiatrists can do that. On one of my first meetings they suggested medication and I told them I didn't want to go that route, so they said ok and we just talked every week. They helped me change my prospective on the world and feel better. It was a big help. Eventually, after a couple of years I realized my problem still wasn't going away even though I was putting so much effort into fixing it, so at that time I did opt to try some medication. I DEFINITELY would not go the medication route until you visit a psychological counselor for a while. Good luck!

I would definitely go see your doctor and ask tell him about how you feel. He will certainly suggest a change in diet and exercise to see if the feelings persist beyond basic lifestyle. Remember there is no shame in taking medication for depression, many more people have it than admit.

But, if you don't want to I suggest setting measurable goals for yourself through out the day. You need to see attainable plans being played out. Once you get successful at planning even the mundane things are easier to bear, so long as you keep in mind why you are doing it. Be disciplined and focused and this is the most important find someone to help you. A good friend or loved one who will remind you that you are a great person no matter what you do and momentary disappointments go away. I strongly suggest getting involved with a church group, because I honestly know I changed from being around people who loved me for who I am, and knowing who God made me to be.

Best of luck!

sometimes the only way to take depression away is taking medication going to a psychiatrist because is an disease
i have depression and the only way I could snap out of my depression is only medication i tried not to take but eventually i did i could not function some depression go away some just don't like mine it depends on what type of depression you have believe me allot of people are going through depression you are not alone I'm one of them it just depends on your situation but you will find light at the end of the of the tunnel remember something you have people in your life that care for you are valuable to people that love you
think that you have to keep going because things passes by and they never stay in the same place or level situations change life in a journey and we as human we got to be strong otherwise the problems will chew us apart life is challenging but we could never stop we always have to keep going life does not stops for nobody you just have to go with the flow of life and you do have a life you are breathing and you have life something allot of people don't have like people that are dying in a hospital bed of aids or cancer be happy because other people have it worst out there live life to the fullest and keep your head high don't let nobody bring you down those are the people who wants to see you sad don't give them the chance to see you down show them that you are strong and nobody is going to bring you down no matter what people sometimes feel miserable when they see other people being happy is just life good luck

I always try to focus on something positive. I can always find a project to work on. I find that keeping myself busy helps me to clear my head of negative thoughts. That is the key, to take the negative, and turn it in to a positive. I like reading the bible , and I learn more about myself, others, and of course the Lord. I will give you a few verses, that I have often went to for encouragement. (KJV) Philippians, chapter 4: vs.6-9, esp. vs.8 (think on these things). It has helped me a lot, when life starts to trouble me. I hope this works for you. Have a good evening.
