Has anyone taken this??!
Question: Has anyone been on this med. before my doc said it was kinda like lexapro but lexapro didnt help me so i was wondering if anyone has been on this and can tell me if it worked for them I have ptsd, depression, anxiety disorder and panic attacks i read the med. info that it came with and its always the same crap so i wanting someone who can tell me who has taken it ya know any help would be great thanks :)

Lexapro is an SSRI - selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor. Effexor is an SNRI - seratonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. So effexor acts on two "happy hormones" while lexapro only acts on one. Effexor works really well for some people and drives other people crazy. I took Cymbalta, which is an SNRI, and it drove me crazy so I had to switch.
You forgot to tell us what medication it is.
You didn't say what medication you are talking about but if it is in the Valium family, you need to go to another doctor. Those type meds will stop things such an panic attacks but they do not prevent them from happening in the first place. I take a combination of drugs, Zoloft and BuSpar for my panic/anxiety attacks and they were prescribed to stop my attacks. I have an occasional break through but they are far and few between and nowhere near the full blown attack. You need to find a doctor who completely understands your issues and is willing to work with you in finding out what helps. Too many doctors will write a prescription and send you on your way so they can get to that next patient and that is truly sad.
Hi,I have been on 200mg of Zoloft for my anxiety and depression for two years now.
Now they also put me on effexor xr starting out with a dose of 37.5 or some dose like. Because I told the Dr That I was sleeping in real late and feeling very depressed
I have no clue why I am given Zoloft and effexor together ,but I hope it don't cause me anxiety .My sister took effexorXR and it gave her anxiety big time.
I just started it.So I don't know yet how it makes me feel.
But like I said it can give you worse anxiety,or it might work for you. You just got to try it in see
