Anyone had a bad experience with Prozac?!

Question: Yes! Years ago I was put on it. No effect for a couple of weeks then pow! Suddenly I had this false euphoria that I didn't like at all - I would say it was the emotional equivalent of a cheap air freshener - all the bad feelings were still there, but overwhelmed by this sickly-sweet 'up', and ertzat high.
But the worst was I became really jumpy, nervous and paranoid. I went on a long trip in a minibus and was convinced we were about to crash all the time!
So I just stopped taking it and pulled myself up by my own bootstraps instead!

They aren't the be all and end all for everyone - my daughter didn't do well on them. You might discuss the alternatives with your doctor. Good luck.

I was given prozac when I was 14 for depression and I totally whacked out and got asked to leave my high school for it :( Obviously I stopped taking it. But, everyone's different.

My brother he is 20 and he jumped out of his gfs moving car and got head injurys, and was flown to a hospital out of town, was put into an induced coma for 19 days. He had half his scull removed to reduce the swelling and is still waitin to get the bone put bk in. It was the worst thing ever,he is ok now and not on prozac, but it took him a while to get his movements and speech back.

They put me on it as a teen, I felt like oatmeal. Not depressed but not happy either. Just like the emotions had been shrunk to the middle. My hubby said it made him feel like a "zombie" too.

I know a lot of people stop taking it because the sexual side effects make it hard on relationships.

YES. It made me suicidal. I gave them up.

Not me personally but my friends bf died a few weeks later she was prescribed this and started seeing her dead boyfriend and began seeing trees growing and other thing that were very wierd and scary. My nana has been on them for over three years and has had no trouble with these so i think its just luck of the draw but i would not advise anyone to go get them. sarah c81.

I had no problem while I was on it, it was coming off it that was bad. I should have slowly reduced the rate, but I was daft and just stopped. Nightmare!

I didn't have a good experience at all. It made me crazy for the first week and then suicidal from then on.. Obviously, I ended up stopping it!

I am on it and no problems yet. It has bee nthe best anit depressant I have tried thus far. I was super uncomfortable to try it, but now I feel better that I gave it a shot. Its a trial and error situation unfortunately with those types of meds. Sad but true.!

Prozac gave me psychotic depression. It was the worst thing that happened to me.

yeah they arent helping there making me worse, making it hard to know whats real and my depressions got worse since taking them

I`ve been on them, and they had absolutely no effect on me, so I gradually deteriorated. I know the guidelines on prescribing them have recently been changed, since there`s alledgedly an increased risk of suicidal ideation and actual suicide amongst children and adolescants on them.

Tried it for a few weeks, got major panic attacks, felt everything was out of my control and I couldn't cope with life. Gave it up, things got better.
