My mother passed away almost 4 years ago and I still think of her daily. The most comforting thing anyone said to me was that it is ok to feel bad. Don't tell them it is good that they are not suffering anymore. I was glad my mother was done suffering, but I would have prefered she did not get sick at all. It is nice that you care about your friend and are there for her.

I am really sorry for your loss and I want you to know that I am hear to listen if you need me.

put your arm around his/hers shoulder, say your sorry for their loss, and things will hurt less in time. want to go get a burger, or hang out at the park and talk? let him/her know you are there for them in their time of need.

when you see her let her be the first one to talk. she should let out her feelings at this time and give her a hug when you think she needs comfort. don't ask any questions about this and just give her a chance to let her feelings out. if she needs to be alone let her be alone. people who lose loved ones go through:
1) denial, numbness, and shock
2) bargaining
3) depression
4) anger
5) acceptance
everyone will soon know that the earth didnt stop because they lost someone. we all have a purpose in life and we need to live it well. good luck, and i hope i helped.

tell her you will be there for her
