weird, it could be coorelated perhaps, but I'd think a 3rd factor was at stake. Depending on why you stopped cutting.

For example:
you stop cutting because you got a boyfriend, so your self confidence is boosted.. and you eat more.
(3rd factor= boosted self confidence).

you are trying to stop cutting, so you focus on other things to pre-occupy your mind.. and you eat more.
(3rd factor= eat as a distraction).

you are trying to stop cutting, which is your coping mechanism, so you eat more, which is utilizing a different coping mechanism.. eating!
(3rd factor=trying new coping skills).

Either way, I'm glad you are doing that good! I work in a lock down facility where people are hospitalized and put on suicide watch for this behavior. Have you ever considered seeking professional help?

I think 2 weeks is a good start! I'd rather you put on some pounds and stop cutting!! Good luck~

your eating because your substituting food for cutting, one vice vice for another.

this is a problem for many people, not just cutters but anyone trying to break a habit. myself i used to drink/smoke alot (its not cutting but it was an addiction) after i reduced my intake of beer and cigs i replaced that need with food. eventually i gained weight and thought why the hell shouldn't i just go back to drinking and smoking. thankfully i didnt, i poured my extra time and energy into everything i could from school to video games, started to (shudder) go outside and ride a bike, eventually i became so used to filling my spare time with activities i completely forgot about making a drink or lighting up.

i guess what im trying to say is, though it may be hard, try and find something else to do.. if you just had lunch and its only been 3 hours, try and make it 2 or even 3 more and watch a movie or go walk around the local mall, maybe walk your dog (if you dont have a dog adopt one there awesome) spending time and taking care of something else might be just the ticket you need. with my dog i spend alot of time watching movies with her and walking around the neighborhood.

i might sound like some weird dog loving crazy guy but i dont smoke now and only drink about 1-2 beers a week.. much better then 2 12-packs and a pack of cigs eh?

Perhaps if you aren't alone as much you'll eat less? But really, consider getting a bit more exercise as the stress chemicals from that will heep you hunger under control.

you need some serios self control.

You used cutting to vent your sadness and grief, now you need another outlet, and youve turned to food instead to comfort you.
I suggest not over-eating or cutting when feeling down; try writing how you feel, drawing, or taking part in a hobbie of yours (when im upset I play my guitar and it helps take my mind of things and when Im done Im so much calmer). You could even talk to a person you trust if you feel it will help take your mind off things.
Good luck, congrats on stopping self harming!!

congrats on the two weeks!!

you are probably eating cos you are replacing the habit with something else - same as a smoker can gain after they quit. have a look at this link, it's a big list of things you can do other than SI which might stop the weight gain cos it'll keep you occupied.

good luck and again, congrats on 2 weeks SI free!!!

Well, there is probably a connection because before you were using cutting to deal with your issues, and now you are using food.

You MUST see a doctor ASAP.... you can't keep cutting and you can't keep eating away your misery.

I bet antidepressants will make a huge difference for you. In the meantime, try to get some sunshine and some exercise to boost your serotonin levels naturally.

Well, i would imagine that you are replacing cutting, for food. Even if you can't tell. Its very hard to take away one distructive behavior without creating another vice for the pain to flow into.
Well done for quitting self-harm. It takes lots of courage, and determination. ll put in a prayer for you tonight.
When you get the urge to eat, ask yourself, are you REALLY hungry? Do you REALLY need that food inside you?. Or, if you do snack, have fruit, or veg. Healthy stuff.
Have you ever recieved any thearpy for your behaviour's. Becasue even though you have stopped, there will still be times when you feel the need to cut. Perhaps thearpy could even find a more positive behavior for your binge eating.
Good luck.
