Firstly it's imortant to discriminate about who you associate with, there are some kinds of friends who are so competitive and insecure themselves, they cannot take joy in your achievements, and others who cannot overcome their jealousy to wish you well in your achievements and there are always those who will seek to boost their own self-esteem by putting other people down. It is the downside of competitiveness. If you have friends like these, find some who are not, & spend less & less time with those who are. It can be a good idea too to be only competitive with yourself, which protects you from undermining your own self esteem with comparisons. There will always be people better than you in some ways, there will always be people who are worse.
Appreciate you own uniqueness.
Think about what you would need to do to feel a sense of achievement - take a practical step towards that aim, then reward yourself - doesn't have to be a big reward -maybe some of your favorite sweets. Reward yourself for every achievement, no matter how small. This is good psychology. A great habit to get into.

Maybe you could enlist your mum's help. Ask her to try & remember to compliment you when she feels you you have done something well or good.

Good luck with it.

Eating right and exercising really helps. You get healthy and an increase in endorphins.

Pick something to do and then do it. It helps when you've accomplished something.

For example, go for a hike. Make a goal to give away $10 to someone who needs it.

start working out and lifting weights...its a real confidence booster.

messege me i'll help u =)

Stay in school!!! Respect yourself and your body by eating well, working out and not taking drugs. Read books about things that interest you, so that you can expand your mind. Plan for your future. Go to college to earn more money. Get a job and earn money and invest in yourself. Help your parents around the house without complaining. Make and keep friends you respect.

Doing something active every day - it increases the serotonin and other chemicals that help you feel good. Eating right will help too. I was very insecure in high school - I think that a lot of it is that age too.

Good Luck! It will get better - you will not be 16 forever! :)

Getting in shape, eating healthy, getting the right look for you[like the right haircut], getting good grades, making good friends, having good a relationship with your family...
Good luck!
:]
