Self injury question?!

Question: is it normal to trigger yourself? because sometimes i do on purpose

Answers: is it normal to trigger yourself? because sometimes i do on purpose

Yes- its normal.. I've done it many times.. and sadly for those who do its getting increasingly hard on the 'net to avoid it too..

However- no one does anything they don't on some level want to do. I've never tried to trigger myself when I havent been thinking about doing it anyway or not been down anyway.

As you probably already know- self injury gets worse and worse and more and more dangerous each time most people do it.. and harder to quit.

Try searching for reasons and ways to avoid it instead perhaps.. or find some way of talking to people when you feel bad- either in real life or online.

No, but it's definitely not uncommon! And it's not uncommon to do this on purpose. For some reason you are enjoying it. It may release emotions or it may be a way to punish yourself. I would suggest you research self-mutilation and get some more help for this.

Yeah, Anything, from the most stupid thing it seems to you, ANYTHING, can trigger self harming. I do it when i'm annoyed, stressed, Hurt, Alone. Even if i'm so happy something a little bad happeneds, suddenly everything comes crashing down, and it seems like the only way out.

I have no idea if it's normal or not but sometimes I do it too. I have no idea why I do though. It seems a strange thing to do on purpose but I have known a few people do it. So it may not be normal exactly but I don't think it's unusual and certainly it's not something you are alone in.

oh god yes it is. when i SH'ed (only a few months ago) i used to sit and thionk about it, then it seemed like a good idea. the general theory is that it is done to turn emotional hurt into physical hurt, so triggering yourself makes perfect sense.

yes it is very possible for you to trigger yourself to self injure . I can tell you that because I do it .

It's normal, not exaclty a good thing to do, but it's still very common even if it's on purpose. I self injure and have triggered myself on purpose before. I don't know if I can really explain a reason for it though...Sometimes people trigger themselves after going a long while without it because they're afraid if they end up quitting, they won't have a way to cope. Try to find an alternative next time if you can.

take care x

Looks like you are taking si (self injury) to a different level. You are taking it to the point of where you want to do it even when you don't need to use it as a coping mechanism. Have you thought that may be becoming addicted to it. Don't worry too much if you are addicted, you can get better when you are ready to. I am trying to do the same with ods myself.

hmmm...i'm not sure if it's normal, though i suspect most people will do so. i know i do sometimes. when i'm low i'll start thinking all those deep dark thoughts, and start thinking of self harm, then i'll probably end up cutting myself, just because i was thinking of it and 'craved' it. i don't normally let myself cut unless i feel there's a reason e.g just had a major argument, or am completely depressed and having suicidal thoughts, but sometimes i will cut myself just because i haven't in a long time and really really need to - that's normally when i trigger myself.

hope you're okay hun, i'm here for you if you wanna talk.
