Does Anyone Have Emetophobia?!

Question: Yeah I know I ask too many questions... I'm just a messed up person with the SI, hallucinations, and relationship problems. And also emetophobia. I have had this fear ever since I had the stomach flu when I was 8 years old. Its been years since I've vomited, but I worry everyday... Its so bad that I have been begging my parents for some sort of mental help. But they've said no. Also, I worry about what I eat. I don't eat any type of meat except for grilled chicken, and I rarely eat that. I'm afraid to eat, so I don't eat a lot. Only 2 meals a day. But lately its been 1 meal a day. I don't know if its still considered anorexia if you are not eating much because of a phobia, and not a weight issue... So if anyone is emetophobic, please tell me what I can do to get over this. Thank you very much everyone.

Well, all I know is that I HATE to vomit. I don't fear it though. I still eat. I'm also educated in what it takes to make a person sick, and there's no reason to fear food. 99% of food is safe. My advice is: Don't worry about it. Most foodborne illness is created in the home, not from fast food. Also, beef is way safer than chicken.

Get a hobby.

I think you need some help and your parents need to listen to you...so find someone to help out, a teacher, counselor (at school) someones parents or a family member...

Emetophobia develops from a childhood incident that caused a deep rooted trauma connected with vomiting, in other words, as a result of conditioning.

When a child first experienced an initial incident (normally between the age of one to 6 years old), they were not fully developed intellectually. They reacted to that situation based on their life experiences to date - such as "don't do things that upset people because it means they don't love you anymore" or perhaps "if you are sick, everybody looks at you and says nasty things".

Regression Hypnotherapy will allow a person to remember that particular event and review it with 'adult' eyes this time around. This will then allow them to interpret the event correctly and it will no longer be an issue for them.

Even the most complex of cases can be successfully treated with Regression Hypnotherapy, just by enabling the adult to see the event again and 'overwrite' the bad data with correct data.

Good luck.

I dont how old you are, but if your parents wont take you to the doctor, take yourself. Just talking to someone who is sympathetic can help. You could also be a hypocondriac and that in itself needs help. your parents must have a reason for saying no. Think about what your problems really are. You just might be seeking attention and you should find more positive ways of getting it.
