I am depressed and need advise?!

Question: I just turned 18 and I have been battling with depression pretty well my whole life, it's common in my family.
I usually get over in a few weeks to a month but there has been a couple times it's lasted for a few months and I have tried medication's but it's only a short term fix to the problem.
welp anyways for the last year I've pretty much been depressed the whole time over alot of stuff I've been through and am still going through everytime I get over one thing something else happens but for the last year it's been mostly because I dropped out of school when I was alot younger and I've finally realized what a mistake that was and I am now worried I can't ever become anything and I will always be poor.
which I'm not saying anything about being poor its just I've grown up poor and I've always told my self one day I will be someone important and hopefully change the world in a good way and have enough money that I could help my family out is it normal to be depressed about this at 18

I am wondering,, do you usually get depressed at a certain time of the year? Some people have seasonal affective disorder and are depressed in fall-winter. They begin to feel better when the days get longer. My son has it he is 20.
As to quitting school my other son left because he was bullied. He went back to adult school got his diploma, not his GED and is now in his first year of college,, he is 24. You can do it. There are online classes you can use at your own pace. That way when you are not up to it you can take a break. Some states even have them at no cost. Check your states website. good luck

im 17 years old, and i think about this all the time. growing up my family hasn't had a lot of money, i hope to one day do all the things i dreamed of and help my mom as well. surround yourself with positive people, u may not realize it, but the people around you always affect the way you think of yourself. also, dont think so much about the future. focus on all the things you have right now. you'll find that ur more rich than u think

god bless

Depression is a symptom of a deeper problem and it seems you have been able to find where your sadness is coming from. I can also sense fear in you. Fear of being poor. No one can help you better than yourself. We can only suggest but you have to do the work. Go back to school when its time for enrollment. But for the meantime do some physical workout, jogging and going to the gym regularly, helps fight depression a lot aside from helping your self esteem when you start looking and feeling good. Join a group or look for a sharing partner whom you can share your feelings to.

Well i have always believed you can do anything you want to do and be whoever you want to be.But ultimately it is you and you alone that can make it happen, when you work at something its not always easy but if it was so easy then maybe it wouldnt be as rewarding for you in the end.Find something that you want to do and go for it,dont let anyone tell you that you cant do it,prove them wrong and yourself. And get that education or GED Good Luck

hey im ash.
i am 12 and guess what!

i am going through, what i think is minor depression. it sucks. i dont know what is up. at times i feel a sad mood and i overthink and analyze things.. and more. let me quit talking about myself and talk about u.

1.) try therapy.
2.)know just because u dropped out it doesnt mean its the end of the world. my dad dropped out of college and not to brag but he is very succesful today. right about now u should go out and educate urself or learn about real estate or business something like that. and for ur depression know u r not the only one and research with doctors.. therapists.. etc.

i feel 4 ya cuz i can relate<33

you're still very young my dear...talk to someone you can trust and ask help from her/him. Keep on praying. God bless!

Best thing to do is to face it, then completely eliminate it by engaging yourself in some activities far from your depression. And do not pressure yourself on some things that you consider as problems. Being problematic does not help you a lot.
