Trouble with Paranoia/Fear.?!

Question: I have a lot of trouble with Fear and Paranoia, it gets really bad.

Examples are; the reason I'm posting this question at 4:15 in the morning is because I couldn't go to sleep because I kept imagining that someone was going to appear out of nowhere and kill me, or that something was under my bed, or tat something was going to smash the door down.

Another one is that I have a kitten and sometimes she plays at night and even though I know it's her, every time she makes a sound I jump a little bit and my heart speeds up.

One more, say I'm walking into the bathroom, the light will be off, so I'll half to walk in and turn the light on, and during those 2-4 seconds it takes me to get to the light, my heart starts racing like crazy because for some reason I think that something is there.

SO, basically i'm here to ask for any tips for coping with such fear/paranoia, or if anybody knows any prescription medicines for such problems.

I think you might need counseling and proper medication if this is a big problem for you. You will be surprised how much these can help, especially the right medication.

Go and see your doctor as it could be a chemical imbalance.

There's no need to live in such fear like this... There is help for you to deal with your problem, so you should really see your doctor or get some counseling and describe everything about your paranoia/fear as you have in your question! I'm sure they will have some really helpful strategies and life skills for you to cope with your fear! You will get through this so hang in there!

I suffered from paranoia for a year and couldn't think why I knew it was unreasonable but couldn't control it
eventually I went to counseling it stunned me as to what the cause was as it had happened many years ago, but once I faced it I was OK strange but true
