I SHOULD freak out, right?!

Question: Last August, I was diagnosed with prodromel psycosis, which means that within one year, I will develop a major psychotic disorder.

The thing is that I'm not scared. I didn't freak-out, or cry or have any reaction what-so-ever beyond, "Okay. So, what do I do?" I think that perhaps I should be wigging-out or something, but I just don't feel it.

This is... weird, isn't it? Not a typical reaction?

My pschologist was in the middle of diagnosing me with a mild form of adult autism and I wondered if that might have anything to do with my reaction (or lack there of), but the diagnosis never got complete because I had to move. Thoughts?

you know (personally speaking and from speaking to others) for some reason people with psychotic disorders seem to deal better with the "big" stresses.

it's the little ones that do our heads in and set us off!

and (again i have a disorder myself) a "normal" person would probably freak out. but we special ones have a different way of thinking and feeling about things.

for eg. i used to work a really intense, high pressure job with dangerous goods. a number of times we had several big dramas and every single time one of them occured the fire department/police/whoever would say i'm the calmest person they've seen in a crisis.

so don't worry about it and just take every day as it comes xx

perhaps it will hit a bit later? when something very big happens to me the shock doesnt really occur till way later

Maybe if you try to keep your stress level low, you can fight this episode that is supposed to happen. Perhaps you can talk to someone to find out what you can do to prevent or delay this expected outcome. Best Wishes
