I've only been taking Lexapro a week. Can I stop cold or do I have to taper !

With any psychiatric drug, you shouldn't stop cold turkey if you want to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Headaches and dizziness are two of the most common withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor and taper your dosage gradually over the next 10 days or so. He or she will probably cut the dosage in half to start the weaning off process. Good luck!

Its takes a few weeks to start working. You can stop during the first week or more.
Its not a good antidepressant for woman anyway. It makes you gain weight. Cymbalta is good.
Only stop when the psychiatrist tells you too. You just can't decide on your own will. It takes a while for the medication to fully work.

you must come off those very slow cut down your dosage little by little do it ove 2 weeks .
Do yourself a favor and decrease the dosage. Play it safe. As far as weight gain.(since it was mentioned in other responses) I've been on it for a little over a month and have lost over 20 lbs. It sapped my appetite. But everyone reacts different. Good luck.
