Lamictal Withdrawal?!

Question: Has anyone else experienced extreme anxiety, paranoia, and anger as well as increased suicidality when weaning off of Lamictal? I dropped from 250 mg to 200 mg last week and the symptoms have become increasingly worth, and they have made me go back up.

Anyone else experience this?

Good morning. Is that u Higher Places? Kewl new name. Ive been keeping you in my prayers. So your doctor is weaning you off lamictal? Hmmm, it sounds to me you might need to go back on it. I know thats not what you want to hear, believe me I KNOW. But think about it. Since you have decreased your dosage of lamictal, you are experiencing anxiety, paranoia and suicidality. Right? Correct me if im wrong K? Well, if u increase your dosage, wouldnt all that go away. Is taking those meds that bad? You once explaned to me how my son was feeling that brought tears to my eyes. So I do know how you feel. I didnt know you were only 16. The way you wrote, I thought you were in your thirties. What do you want to be when you get older? You seem to have a knack for writing. Why dont you concentrate your efforts on writing and try to put the pills in the back of your head. Keep on taking them though. Your parents do know whats best for you because they love you so much. Good luck Higher Places oh i mean Rocket

If the lamictal was working for you, why then are you weaning off it. Lamictal is one of the better of those drugs. So if you go back up and all is well, then i would say stay there. I know its not easy and im proud of you for staying on your meds. You are one of the smart ones. Good luck to you. I wish you the best.

I've dropped from 300 to 200 and 200 to 150 and most recently 150 to 100 without any withdrawl effects. If the Lamictal is working for you, why are you lowering the dose? I'm aggravated with the side effects.

yep.

be careful. (underlined)

you can go to www.alternativementalhealth. com (NOT .org).

and...this probably isn't applicable (age wise), but do check out www.FightForKids.org. It's a really good website regarding getting people off drugs.

and if you've got the stomach, check out www.cchr.org.
the one for alternativementalhealth.com is prob the best)

best of luck.

I took it for a year and a half and did have anxiety and anger when I went off it. I discontinued because the side effects were not worth it to me.
I didn't want to go back up (I had hair thinning and general stupidity from it) and went off over the course of a month. It was not a good month to be around me, but now, 3 months later, I'm so glad I'm off it.
I will say, however that I was on only 100 mgs. and was never in a place where I felt suicidal. Everybody is different, so do your research and talk honestly wth your parents about how you feel. Maybe this can be replaced by another medicine or adjusted dosages of your other ones.
It is a really good drug for most, but not all. Only you know if it makes you feel crappy. If you must stop, make sure your doctor knows about it, and do it slowly like you tried. There is a light at the end of the tunnel on this one.
I hate meds too, and sort of wince everytime I suck down my Wellbutrin in the morning, but once you find what's right for you, it is worth it.
I wish you lots of luck!
