Can something that happened years ago still have an impact of your life?!

Question: I moved to Austalia 10 years ago, from Bosnia, (21 now) i went through the war as i came to Aus. just after it finished. I moved here with my mum, just the 2 of us, as kind of refugees, as my mum is half serbian half croatian, and my father is muslim so it was preety dangerous for us there. Everything was fine when we came, friends always used to ask how it was living throught the war, but it was nothing to me as being through 5 years of the war , you just kind of got used to it.
But now 10 years later , i started remembering stuff, and have started getting very aggressive, and when i get angry i just want punch stuff, been in and out of depression for the last 6 years, cant sleep without the light on. Anyway i got told that all the problems that im dealing with might be the cause of my past , as i have seen a lot of things.
How can i figure this out?

You/family are a beautiful brave preson/people. Australia is your home it is 'safe'. Heal your psyche & all will flow better. I think you've one form of Post traumatic stress disorder. PSD can occur anytime during your life. Anger, stress, flash backs & depression are some of the signs. Please get professional help for it when you are ready. # go see your GP. Try to talk/write about your case= best therapy - major step towards overall good health. Before it is too late (avoidable harm occurs) do manage 'depression' ASAP - you, others & environment will cope /feel better. If you can go back to your birth place & bond with it as a changed place. If possible go for drug free solutions. Take care.

Yes it can. It wouldn't hurt to visit with a psychologist.

sounds to me that you may have post-traumatic stress disorder. most army soldiers get it .

talk to a professional

Post traumatic stress disorder. You should see a mental health counselor.

REPRESSED POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

Talk to your doctor about it. If it helps, print a hard copy of your Yahoo letter and present it to your doctor upon your arrival.

I have a suggestion. Instead of trying to figure it out, you might want to learn some form of meditation. It could help. Good luck!

well, when you were going through it, all you could do was go with it, since you couldn't change the situation. you probably had to keep your head down and a part of you may have been in denial about just how scary it was.

now you can actually think about it clearly, because you're out of the situation, of course you're getting angry and frustrated. it's hard to see all that pain and devastation, especially when you're so young and powerless to stop it.
you probably should go talk to somebody, if just to give voice to your feelings. it's easier to sort things out when they're out in the open.

Yes. We continue our learning each lifetime. There are 144,000 different aspects or ways of thinking that we all must come to an understanding of before we can graduate from this physical existence. Before you entered this body that you are now using as a vehicle for experiencing, which provides a way for you to learn. you, while still existing in subconscious mind, made the decision about what needed to be address next . Between lifetimes while in subconscious mind or soul, we have access to all the previous injformation. Each lifetime, we start over with a new conscious mind so these decisions we made before coming here are not readily available unless we choose parents who are already aware, which is a rarity but the numbers are slowly increasing. Young children remember but usually when they relate what they are seeing they are shot down by uninformed people around them and so they quit remembering. During my teaching days about mind one such informed lady told me that she had allowed her child to remember and talk about the experiences without restriction, only questions aked in a way not to interfere, which continued until the child was close to ten years of age. The child ceased to speak of these things after being chastised by friends. The first past life reading I received, answered a couple of questions I had been trying to figure out all my life up to this point. The reading was a part of my studies about how the mind works. There was a fear of jails which made no sense since I was law abiding and had no obvious reason for the fear. The reading related how I had spent most of the adult portion of a lifetime in prison, most of it being in solitary confinement. Before hearing this reading, I did not care who or if I was before. This information really got my attention because I had mentioned this fear to noone before . The evidence was too clear to ignore. This is one way the past is relevant to now. Someday.

The best thing in life is to forget the bad things that happened to you and remember all the good ones. If you keep on thinking about the past then you cannot move on. Forget it, live happy, life doesn't stop 10 years ago there's so much in life to discover. Lot of nice things to come. When you have a family of your own, this will make you realise that there's a good reason to live.

Forget the past and sleep well every night. Hope this help.

God bless you.

Go to your local doctor, tell him/her about this. You can be helped.Goodluck........

Totally.

Yes, very much especially if this was violent like war or terror attack. This could be worse if you have seen those flesh and blood splattered around and everything is in violent mayhem and chaos. What is happening to you now is a carried on adaptation to the miserable condition you experienced way back in your country. I advise you to consult a psychiatrist.

take a minute while you're angry, maybe punch your pillow. ok then analyze what you're feeling why you are feeling frustrated. if that didn't help try to sleep more, make your home real cosy with your fave fragrant in the air. be happy and enjoy your home. past in way in the past!

dont be paranoid australia is resonably safe try to think positive and do some fun activites

Hi sorry to hear you are not doing so great, See your GP and get referred to a counsellor so you can talk through your experiences in a safe environment, but remember the past is another country, and you can't change it,let it go, look forward and work on building a happy future, that is something you can have control over,if you let it your past will pull you down but it dosen't have to.

IN MY POINT OF VIEW, THE MOST IMPACT IN OUR LIVES, WAS THE INTERNET, BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS AN UNION OF PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, RELIGIONS, AND MORE.

In my experience what you are suffering is not unusual. In a lot of cases similar to yours some people hide their memories for many years, sometimes deliberately , and sometimes through the unconscious.
Then gradually over time the human mind remembers.. and certain experiences from the past surface. This can be very painful and can cause mood change, which is what you are suffering...i know of two cases where proper prescription of escitalopram oxalate is very effective, (through a doctor). it balances the seratonin production in your brain...reduces depression and anger and even makes you happy again and have better, undisturbed sleep.. there are very few side effects.. check it out. and good luck .

you should check in with your medical for possible post traumatic stress syndrome
