Am I being paranoid?!

Question: I'm 13 years old and my ex-brother-in-law lives with us (Don't ask why). He is okay sometimes but sometimes he could be obnoxious and a know-it-all (He thinks he is, HA) but the real problem is that he smokes. He cooks our food sometimes and he taste it like he is taking a bite out of it. When I am getting my food ready and I leave it for a few seconds, or even if I'm eating it he grabs my utensil and takes a bite out of it (This hasn't happened once). Will the fact that he smokes and he eats my food dangerous for my health? (Like for my gums or something?) And how could I kindly tell him to stop doing that and would he just leave me alone? (I really dislike the smell of cigarettes).

P.S. I've talked to my parents about this already but they didn't answer all of my questions :/

He shouldn't smoke in the house. I don't know about you, but whenever I'm around smoke, my nose gets stuffy and bothers me. If I were in your situation, I would tell my parents that it bothers me. Get them to ask him to smoke outside.

Also, I never let anyone eat off my utensils. You're not going to catch any smoking related illness, but if he is carrying germs (like viral or bacterial), you will get sick. You could catch a cold or something. If he did it again, I would fix a new plate, get new utensils, and tell him I don't eat after people because I might catch a cold. If he teases you, just start complaining about how colds make you feel.
Good luck to you!

It's not going to do anything to you by him tasting food (what a pig!) but if he smokes in the house near everyone, it will affect your lungs and overall health.

Make sure your parents kick his behind outside when he smokes, he is endangering everyones life by smoking inside.

Eww..the fact that he eats off of other people is just gross...You should tell him to get some table manners and a nicotine patch.

uh, sounds like he needs some manners. pull him aside and simply tell him to stop eating off you're plate, it's rude and inconsiderate. you won't catch anything from him using your fork or spoon, but it's possible you could get 2nd hand smoke from being around it all the time. he should go outside and smoke, instead of doing it in the house. if he doesn't stop after you speak to him then definitely make a point to your parents. if they care about you they will immediately fix this problem. if that doesn't work then maybe you can live with a relative, only as a last resort.

smoking and tasting your food can not pass anything smoke related on to you whatsoever.

him smoking in the house DOES present major problems
you are at risk of getting cancer and heart disease through "PASSIVE SMOKING" i.e. breathing in his smoke.

We have known smoking causes cancer and heart dsease for many years now, but passive smoking is now proved to be almost as dangerous.
this is why smoking in public places such as retaurants, bars, coffee shops, on buses, trains, taxi-cabs is banned.

You should talk to your parents about him not being allowed to smoke inside the house, and that he should go outside to smoke. tell them you dont want to suffer ill health through passive smoking.

let us know what they say.

secondhand smoke doesnt exist, much less in food
