Am I stuggleing with depresion and not know it?!

Question: I have had a rocky past and I think it might be still causeing me some problems like in situations were I am put under any pressure what so ever I break down and start crying sometimes I do it for no reason and and I am always picking on my self for things I can't change! I can't leave my house with out me thinking every body is talking about me and will break down in the middle of random places crying so hard I can function! So now I just stay here in my house and don't leave I don't trust any one around me! I hate leaveing my house and don't want to go on depresion medication because I don't want to gain weight! Theripists freak me out BIG TIME and that would recuire me to leave my house and I don't want to! I have wanted to commit suicide but I am not that selfish to hurt the ones that love me like that! I have cut myself once then stopped because it hurt more than I thought it would! Any suggestions?

Sorry for bad spelling!!!

It sounds like you are to me.

At the VERY least you could use some help learning some stress release methods. If you absolutely WON'T talk to a counselor, there are lots of other places to learn them, I collect them myself. E-mail me if you want some ideas where to get started with that.

Depression medicine is just as likely to help you lose weight as gain it. I lost weight on zoloft myself. Don't let a fear stop you from doing something you need to do. remember:

FEAR

False
Evidence
Appearing
Real

The important thing is, you CAN change into a happier person. Don't give up hope.

take an online depression test, and TALK TO ADOCTOR!

this goes beyond just being scaed to go out of your home

Honey, it is really, really important that you talk to someone - do you have a family doctor? He/she may be able to recommend someone to you. Maybe a friend or family member can help you get somewhere to talk to someone. You can't fix this by yourself, and it will probably only get worse. And honestly, don't be afraid of gaining a little weight from any medication that may help you. Please call someone today and take some steps to get yourself better...

Who says medication makes you gain weight? That's not true. Besides, even if it did, would you rather live like you're living now or have to cut back on the chips?

You definetely sound like someone who could benefit from therapy and/or medication. Why do therapists freak you out? They are there to help you and lend an ear and professional advice. It's not like you lie on a leather couch while the doctor discusses Freudian theories.

You obviously need help, and I urge you to get it. Your life can be much better if you avail yourself of the resources out there that can help. Start with your family doctor, tell him/her your problems and concerns, and have them recommend someone for you to see and a course of action. I do not recommend taking medication without therapy.

Sounds like you have anxiety and depression issues.

See a therapist. Meds don't make you gain weight. Many meds don't increase appetite: stay away from meds like trazodone and mirtazapine if you're concerned.

Sounds like chemical imbalance.
