It would be an obsession, not addiction. Do you lay there in bed thinking and fretting about scarves? Do you get worried if you don't have one with you, for fear of something negative occuring? Wearing scarves are cute, this probably isn't an obsession.
No 23 is o.k., but 24 and I would say youwere obsessive.

People collect all sorts, scarves included.
Why do you think it is an addiction? Do you think you're psychologically abusing them? Do you think it's mind altering properties are damaging to your health? What's wrong with having 100 scarves? You know, this is hardly illegal.
Why does it matter how many scarves you have? Do you know what the world record is in scarf collecting? Probably a lot more than 23. I see nothing wrong with this at all. Your attitude is defensive enough that you are leaving yourself open to criticism and people are taking potshots at you. Phooey on them! As long as you don't have to skip meals or go homeless or something because you spent all your money on scarves I see nothing addictive about this at all.
Do it with style, do it with flair. Write a book, "l0l Ways to Use of Scarves" and it's yours for only $19.95! Make bows out of them and put them on Christmas trees, rear view mirror ornaments, a scarf just for a baby christening, how to tie-dye scarves in 3 easy lessons. Chain them together, dye them green and use them like garland or on your mantelpiece. Your imagination is the only thing missing here. If you like them so much, go for it and go over the top and have fun with it. People have done much weirder things than collect scarves.
Have you ever seen the man with the largest ball of twine in the world? It's so big he has to keep it in his barn. How about the world record of naked people all assembled for a picture? You could have put a scarf on each one of them and had a world record of your own! You know, you're just not having enough fun with this. This is killing me! I'm much more addictive than this, and I don't even collect scarves. No one even cares about me! (Ha!)
Everbody wants to be unique and individual in their own way with their own style. Live it up. It's all up to you.

Multiply that number by at least 10 and you will be getting close to the number of pairs of shoes I have, dating back to when stilettos were last in fashion, circa 1960.
