Remember: Suicide is a false permanent solution to temporary problems. But temporary problems are NOT permanent. So you need to work on your temporary problems by seeing a psychiatrist.

I personally think that you might be more comfortable with a female psychiatrist. However, it doesnt matter much since they recieve the same training. I really hope everything goes well for you!!

You may likely cry the first few times as you mentioned. But psychiatrist are VERY sympathetic people, they will not judge you in anyway. In fact some psychiatrist want you to cry so that you can feel better. So dont worry about embarrassing yourself by crying, because it is perfectly normal to psychiatrists and for you.

Also remember that suicide is the coward's way out. Life is a constant struggle and it is about solving problems that come in the way!

Just make an appointment for a psychiatrist that is available as soon as possible. You'll know if they are a right fit or not. Male or female shouldn't matter, but if you don't feel comfortable with whomever you have, make a change.

I was going through much the same anxiety. "I feel fine now, so maybe I don't need to go". Or "I don't want to be embarrassed for crying". I finally went. I saw one for about 9 months, my initial visit was with a women, but my regular was a man. I cried the first several times and every so often throughout my sessions. But, boy did those cries help and I felt no judgment, only sympathy and a helping hand.
