Ways to ease my mind at night...?!

Question: I have honestly been so stressed out lately, and I know everyone probably reading this right now is like "yeah, join the club" but I've been suffering from a sleep problem or something for a long time and it's like as soon as I lay down at night my mind starts racing, as if trying to figure out my problems all in one night. Honestly, I feel like I've tried everything to ease my mind before bed but nothing I've tried works. I've even tried prescription pills for sleeping from my doctor as well as over-the-counter sleeping pills but neither worked! If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I can hardly get out of bed in the morning because I stay up most of the night and half of the morning just thinking!

Well, if prescribed pills didn't work, I agree with others that you probably should talk to a doctor about the anxiety that is causing the sleeping problems, rather than the problems itself. If you really do have an anxiety problem, what I'm about to suggest probably won't help much, but just in case it does.
*Get in a routine, such as trying to sleep at the same time and doing things before bed in the same order so that your body starts getting in patterns
*Don't read or watch TV before trying to sleep; it will just add more to your thoughts and make your mind work more quickly, making it harder to relax.
*I don't know if you've tried aromatherapy at all, but I have a jar of lavender next to my bed and whenever I realize I'm thinking normally, I take a deep breath in of that.
*Instead of trying to figure all your problems out in one night, maybe write a list before going to sleep and brainstorm potential solutions. Then promise yourself that you'll look again in the morning. I usually just tell myself that I'm never going to be able to solve any of my problems if I don't get enough sleep, but you have to repeat that kind of self-talk a lot before it does any good.

I really hope you're able to sleep soundly soon!

turn on the radio and but it on smooth jazz trust me it works!

Start drinking.... and you can make it fun by taking shots of vodka with your buddies.

heard of MILO or Ovaltine..?
Its Coco based drinks
it'll make u sleepy in no time
Soyabean drinks or Milk helps too

Try exercising an hour before you go to bed. It might clear your mind. Go for a run. Also you could try yoga or pilates.

My advice would be to put on some soothing music.

I've been where you are - I would get so anxious about having to get to sleep that it actually kept me awake! Ambien was a lifesaver for me. Now I don't need meds every night, because I no longer associate bedtime with stress.

I agree with the exercising; it really helps with stress but shouldn't be done within two hours of bedtime if you are having trouble sleeping.

Avoid anything with caffeine (cola, coffee, tea) after lunchtime. You should only use your bed for sex and sleep - no video games, laptop or TV! Some people do well with taking a hot bath in the evening.

It sounds like you could use a sounding board to talk out your problems, so you don't keep them inside and dwell on them at night when life is no longer distracting you from your thoughts. If you have the ability to go, a counselor could help you sort those things out. Good luck!

Honestly, it sounds as if you have significant anxiety.

Racing thoughts as you try to sleep can be a sign of stress. Even if you don't know what the stressor is....

Try going to your doctor. Try telling your parents about it. Be serious. Tell them you are having trouble.
