Prozac or Lexapro???!

Question: Right now I am on Prozac, Lamictal, and Klonopin for Bipolar II disorder with more depression and irritability and major anxiety. The prozac does not seem to be helping me with my anxiety at all. I was wondering if anyone else would think switching to lexapro would be a good idea to help with long term anxiety help. Thanks

i am on lexapro. for ocd and anxiety.
i was once on prozac. i experienced strange side effects. plus i am on the pill and it mucked that around. so for me it was better to switch to lexapro.
my anxiety is going great and so is my OCD however just remember, medication does not fix everything, you need to see a psychologist to help you learn techniques to deal with your anxiety. medication is just a guide.

I am also on those meds, plus lithium, lorazapam and Cymbalta. If you do not feel that you are getting the help that you need from the meds you're on, definitely talk to your doctor. Mental illness is not something that should just be left to take care of itself. Alot of times, ADDING a med to the prozac is helpful. Depending on your main symptoms and struggles, there are lots of options. Also, our bodies do build an "immunity" to meds like Prozac. If you are continuously increasing your dose, it's time to switch or add to what you're taking now.

Keep a journal. Document every instance in which you are not in a state of relief. I went through a period of high anxiety and agitated depression. The Prozac I took in increasing (supervised doses) did the job. For you the Lamictal should be smoothing out the mood swings. The Klonopin should be smoothing out the jagged high points of anxiety. I am going to guess that you have a high intake of carbohydrates. It is symptomatic of your diagnosed condition and it is feeding your condition. It is a vicious cycle. If there is any rational component left to you, let that be your guide. Let that component be the one that speaks with your doctor.

I took Lexapro for depression last year.
My psychiatrist switched me to Pexeva, but I can't see a difference between the two.
Just be careful about high doses.
A different psychiatrist upped my dose of Lexapro to 40mg daily and after a few weeks I was shaking horribly.
I even ended up in the ER at my physician's request.
Just be careful if you are given a high dose. Report all side effects at once.
