I need some advice?!


Question: ok i know this might sound crazy to all of you but i have alot of stress going on at home no one is ever happy and i get so depressed and i start cutting to try and releave some of my stress and i just don't know what to do anymore thats how bad it gets i really want to stop cutting but my family always makes me depressed and stressed and thats how i deal with it i don't like talking about my problems to others i have been hospitalized and put on meds they even tried to send me to counselors and it does not work the only way i can talk to someone is if i know i can trust them and know they are acctually listeningto me. i need help cause as much as i do want to stop cutting i juat get so stressed, depressed, and angrey and i just can't stop the urge so i cut so what should i do????

You said that you can only talk to someone if you trust them. Is there someone you know (aunt, sister, teacher) who you trust that you could tell this too?

I am a clinician, and working with "cutters" is hard, mainly because of trust. If there is someone you trust, open up to them and let them know you want to get help but you struggle with building trust. A good counselor would work with you to build trust prior to having you divulge your problems

Whoa buddy. Take a deep breath. Nothing is worth that and that won't fix anything. How is that even a temporary solution to your problems?? Go to a counselor/therapist soon.

Try squeezing ice cubes apparently it has been proven to give the same buzz as cutting but i would say try and tackle the stresses in your life make a list of everything thats troubling you and tackle one problem at a time, try and banish stress in other ways going to the gym, going for a swim etc...good luck! xxx

well i'm not going to be the whole mom type and tell u to stop! even if it is the right thing. But u need to have more respect for your body. You need to find something else that u can do. like when i get really depressed i write about it and it helps. find something that can distract u, paint, write, something that u can let your emotions out. cutting yourself will not take away the problems in your life, it will just make things worse with u and your family. so if u need to talk you can just message me, u dont know me or anything but maybe thats a good thing, cause im a good listener.

I use to be the worst cutter ever ,I would get hospitalized and get up to 50 stitches at a time , I was very depressed and anxious.

It took a long time before I stopped cutting myself.

what helped me is to write in a journal , I had to write in it like I was talking to a friend , I also was taking meds that made me more stable. (zoloft) and red the book called : cutting

It's hard to stop and you will have to tamper off , as you go into recovery you will notice that you will cute less and less and the cuts will be smaller.

The environments you are in sounds very stressful , do you have a place you can go to , to decompress ? If not , go to the library and read about cutting .

I would recommend online card games. They are a great way to get your mind off life. I would also recommend playing Call of Duty 4 on PS3. You can loose yourself for days in that game!

if you really want to stop being like that, YOU CAN DO THAT! you can change if you are willing to change. other people cant help you to change if YOU, yourself disagree to them. you should help yourself so that others can help you. they cant help a person who doesnt want their help.

just have the courage to change yourself and surely you can do that. this answer cant help you also if you dont like to understand what im saying here. if you dont listen to someone's advise, then all are useless.

You have 2 choices. Use the energy you have to destroy yourself and die (and devistate your loved ones) or put your energy into positive things and advance toward a goal you set for yourself.

Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, go out and run for exercise. Getting your body in shape will help you clear your head and build self esteem. Find a hobby or job you can devote yourself to and build from there. Once you are happy with "who you are" you will not be so vulnerable to the negative family environment.

Stop blaming other's for how you react. As hard as this may be to swallow, YOU are ultimately responsible for yourself in the long run. Some of today's youth don't realize how fortunate they are to receive free education and have the freedom to choose an interest or career path.

TODAY is the day to take charge of YOUR future. Education, Interests, Exercise and Setting Goals is a prerequisite. You are no exception.
