How to deal w/ panic attacks?!

Question: having anxiety for the last 20 years that only got worse. I was put on anti-depressant I've been many different ones. Right now it's Wellbutrin XL and have taken Xanax for many years. They are addictive but I don't care they help my high anxiety and my Dr. watches me like a hawk on them. If I called for a re-fill to soon I'd have some explaining to do. So see a Dr. one that hopefully believes in anxiety and tell him whats going on and you'll get some meds and feel better

I was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder a few years back and was put on antidepressants (Zoloft) and an anti-anxiety med called "Xanax" The xanax works amazingly but there is one downfall..it is VERY addictive. It works quickly but it's easy to start abusing them. I admit I did. I overdosed on them and had to ask the doctor to not give me so many of them. Please talk to your doctor or if you feel like you might do something to yourself, go to the hospital and see a member of the crisis team. That's a good place to start to get the help you need. Don't put off getting help, the problem will not go away on it's own. Good luck and I hope you get the help you need asap!

therapy to discover ways to understand the reasons why the panic attacks and the sign/ signals of a impending attack
mechanisms to how to stop it
a script for BusPar ( non addictive anti anxiey med)
and possibly Zoloft

Good Luck

Propranolol. It's a beta blocker and acts by blocking the action of adrenaline on some of the receptors in the heart.

I've been on 10mg each day for several years and wouldn't be without it. Nothing else worked as well as this. It's safe, non-addictive and has no side effects in low dosage.

Talk to your doctor and he can prescribe it for you. It's safe for long-term use.

Talk to your doctor to find a medication right for you...I'm on effexor and it's GREAT!!!

...but find an outlet that makes you feel better...something you KNOW will be available whenever you need it...I chose my boyfriend...whenever I have a panic attack I call and talk to him...but he's on a school trip for a week in a non-reception area...so it's hard when I have one and he's not there...

So find something like sudoku or driving or listening to music.

one thing that will help right away when having a panic attack is to take a deep breath in through your nose and let it out slowly through your mouth and keep repeating until it stops
