Teenage depression?!

Question: My 16 year old daughter seems to have depression from the research I've done. But the one thing I can't put my finger on is her sudden obsessive behaviors.

She straightens all her CD's
When she isn't wearing her trainers they have to be straight, side by side.
She watches the same movies over & over again.

She has always been so untidy so this is out of character for her.

Are these things to do with depression or are they a separate issue?

All i can say is its normal for all teenagers as far as i know to suffer from some sort of depression, i dont know anyone who hasnt atleast suffered a little from this. Well okay I know a few people but they are the wastes of space who go out drinking and getting stoned all the time so they have no time to be depressed. When my big brother was around 15 he was diagnosed with Autism with OCD, it didnt really develop until he was a teenager even though it should have been picked up much sooner. Im sure your daughter hasnt go that though. Give her a little while and im sure she will be okay, people these days dont appreciate how hard it is being a teenager sometimes. They think its a walk in the park. As for the OCD i guess its possible its caused by the depression. Sorry i couldnt be more helpful

You should take her to the doctor and discuss your concerns.

why don`t you consult her cuz my mother always consult me so i think that might work

It could be that she has some OCD but that it's triggered/exacerbated by her depression - i.e., she's trying to get control any way she can. Talk to her about it, see what she says. You should probably consult a doctor.

It could very well be depression, however, if she doesn't seem sad it may not be the cause. It sounds more like an OCD, which could be triggered by depression or anxiety. If she is close to you, you could attempt to talk to her about it. Casually, of course. Just try to see what's up in her life that could possibly pin-point the problem. If that doesn't help, consult your doctor. Couseling/therapy is another biggie that would help.

Suggest taking her to a Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapist-for immediate help; also you may want to read:
'The Mindful Way through Depression' by: Dr. Jon KabatZinn
to teach her how to effectively deal with thoughts. She may possibly need to see a Psychiatrist-for medication-if the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapist recommends this.
