The Paxil should help soon, but you may want to have some kind of cognitive behavioral therapy as well, that is, you can train yourself to not be afraid of social situations. (This is just my opinion so don't be offended- I think medication is just a mask for problems, you may very well need medication but I think the heart of the problem lies within how you react to certain situations, not cuz you aren't getting enough seratonin.) You really do need to go to school eventhough it's hard. Try talking to your teachers/counselor about your problem and maybe you can set up a plan so u can gradulay go back to attending school normaly. Your parents will want to be involved with this. Take baby steps, come in on Monday and try your best to make it through the day, you'll see, soon you will be able to come in 3 days a week and finally you may be able to go back to 5 days; but again you need to communicate with your school/teachers and it's important that you do your work from home when you aren't in school. Maybe you could be home-schooled? I don't advocate this since it won't solve your fears but its an option you may have...Do you have friends at school? or has your anxiety prevented that? If so, they should be supportive of you and I find they are the best source of confidence for this kinda thing. Try talking to people in the same situation as you, online is a good way to start..anyway good luck and hope you feel better soon.

You should talk to a professional about this. Besides taking medication, they can help reduce your anxiety, make you feel better and that will help you stay in school. You're right, you will do much much better if you are in school more than half the time. Good luck!! =)

The best thing to do is to convince your parents to start seeing a professional on a regular basis. High school was really bad for me, I had no real friends, most of the students were rich and I was always awkward and misfit. I went into the Navy out of High School to avoid going to Ohio State and ended up going to Akron U once I got out. For some people, high school is the worst time of their lives. It was for me.
