Answers: i suspect my son to have.please give info.

Hi Pauline
Is this your child or is this just a general question? if child, not to worry this is help for you baby.
Here is your answews. : Pervasive Development Disorder.
The term "PDD" is widely used by professionals to refer to children with autism and related disorders; however, there is a great deal of disagreement and confusion among professionals concerning the PDD label. Diagnosis of PDD, including autism, or any other developmental disability, is based upon the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Fourth Edition (DSM-IV), published by the American Psychiatric Association, Washington D.C., 1994, and is the main diagnostic reference of Mental Health professionals in the United States of America.
According to the DSM-IV, the term "PDD" is not a specific diagnosis, but an umbrella term under which the specific diagnoses are defined.
Autism is something different;
The central features of Autistic Disorder are the presence of markedly abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication and a markedly restricted repertoire of activity and interest. The manifestations of this disorder vary greatly depending on the developmental level and chronological age of the individual. Autistic Disorder is sometimes referred to as Early Infantile Autism, Childhood Autism, or Kanner's Autism
I have a little boy who has autism and has gone through a lot of meds, but he is doing fine, but he does have some problems (behavior problems) but is for most part under control of him self, so it all good ; )
You take care and Keep the Faith it's going to be alrrrrright.

Autism/PDD-NOS is a neurological difference that is comparable to the difference between how dogs (neurotypical people) and cats (autistics) think, and is not a case of them being a defective dog: they're merely some variation of a cat.

Sadly, too many people have this idea that autistics can be "cured" and do all sorts of things to try to bring that to pass, and almost inevitably cause great harm in the process. Just because you may have someone appear "normal" by making the emulate it, doesn't change how they really are underneath, and that's a very unnatural way to behave for someone that's autistic.

PDD-NOS is diagnosed when they can't quite label it as classic autism or Asperger's Syndrome, but it has many traits in common with them. Asperger's Syndrome is another mutation of the classically-described autism, with the most significant difference being the curve of development related to speech development not being as late, but otherwise, the traits are all the same. Also it is important to note that there's no single profile that describes someone on the autistic spectrum, in the same way that there's no single cookie-cutter description for those that are neurotypical, either: we all have various strengths and weaknesses, and all may be more extreme than others, even in the same family.
